Started playing Skies of Arcadia for the first time. I like it in general, it has an interesting story & gameplay style. It’s fun, but definitely a challenge.

For the record, I love FF7 but it’s definitely overrated, & I hated FF9 when it came out cause I was a dumb kid who ran from every battle, so I thought it was too hard, but it’s one of my fave FFs now 😅

There is one student I’m worried for though. She missed 2 classes. I don’t mind much, I tell students as long as you’re safe & ready to engage when you come, we’re good

But she admitted she missed class, because she’s bulimic. I’m worried for her & also don’t know how to deal with that situation 😕

The guy that staff have labelled a “problem student” has actually warmed up to me & said he enjoys my class

I tend to get along with “problem” kids, because they aren’t actually bad. They just need to feel safe to learn, for someone to show interest in their potential & isn’t there to judge them

Been much happier since I started the new A2 class this week. Feel like the students are so open to learning & don’t have overwhelming expectations

Also not second-guessing myself, wondering if I’m doing everything just right for test-prep students who may be pinning their entire success on me

Pasta alle Vongole

For #stardewvalley lovers like myself, if you could establish a food recipe in game using 2-4 ingredients, what would it be?

I’d establish Pasta Vongole
•1 clam
•1 wheat flour
•1 garlic
•1 vinegar (should be wine, but no recipe in game uses wine, so vinegar is 2nd best option 😅)

What’s more, the school’s policy is *no* refunds. So, those students will be giving negative reviews & complaints 😬

I’ll probably still be blamed somehow, either from admin or catching strays from the slighted students (not my fault but whatever). At least I’ll enjoy admin getting bit in the ass 🤷‍♂️

So those high-paying students? Well, new girl will have them for just 2 weeks when they finish, *not* enough time to get the experience to teach them as per their expectations

So, those students are gonna be *pissed*, because the inconsistent teaching will make them feel like they wasted money

But now, the course will be inconsistent. It’ll have a new teacher who won’t be able to work with its students’ needs, because she just doesn’t have the experience

The admin is rotating me out next week, because I called out the mixed messages they were giving me which they gaslight have been clear the whole time

So they’re rotating in a new teacher who won’t question them, except she has *never* taught this class, taken the test, or done test prep before

Last week, 3 new students paid *big* $$$ for 4 weeks of this course

By end of this week, they’ll have had me 2 weeks, gotten used to my teaching & me giving specialized tips/advice for this test

I’ve done this test & taught this course for almost a *year* now, so I know specific strats for it

This course is test prep for an English test to immigrate here. So, studying correctly is a big deal since immigration is EXPENSIVE!

I’ve complained that the school doesn’t take this class seriously. They charge a lot for it, yet underfund it, just using it to rake in $$$ (none of which I get 🫩)

Long 7-part story

It’s my last week teaching the test prep class. But, I’m musing as I expect some comeuppance in the next 2 weeks 🤭

Why? Admin are micromanagers who are out-of-touch with classes. They don’t see students, just numbers on a screen, & blame us teachers when numbers aren’t perfect

Songs from games such as: Sea of Thieves, Hades, Resident Evil, World of Warcraft, League of Legends, Towerborne, Psychonauts, Fortnite, Civilization, Chrono Cross, Vampire the Masquerade, and Baldur’s Gate

Tallying up mistakes then mentioning them later after a long while just blindsides your employee

Then they feel less confident in their skills & overwhelmed because now they have A LOT of issues to fix & unsure in their ability to do so

A lack of communication is UNPROFESSIONAL & IRRESPONSIBLE

A rule for professionalism:
If issues come up about an employee’s performance, DON’T JUST TALLY THEM UNTIL ENOUGH OF THEM BOTHER YOU/THE COMPANY TO SAY ANYTHING

That leaves many moments where they may keep making mistakes, except they have NO IDEA of them because you didn’t speak up until now 🫩

Anyway, they may be moving me to A2 general English soon. If you’re gonna give mixed messages & not treat the class seriously, give me A2

Its curriculum is already made, so I won’t have to make each lesson myself like now, cause admin’s never taken it seriously enough to give a dedicated curriculum

Admin literally said the other week, “no one else wants to teach this class, they find test prep boring, so we appreciate you teaching it”

They put me to teach it, despite not having the test prep certification, because I’ve taken the test before & they considered that good enough 🫩

The admin treats this test prep class as a holding class for students who wanna take general English classes when those classes are full

So most students in here have NO interest in taking the test, but want the class to be more fun & less challenging
