After teaching three days with COVID and the flu, two days of resting has felt so lazy 😂 I’ve decided I’m not a great patient. I started sourdough cinnamon rolls last night and baked them this morning, and I can actually smell them!
Woke up from a COVID/flu meds nap to Ozzie draped across my chest 😂 #cats
Sore throat, headache, bad congestion/sinus pressure, and low energy. I really thought they were going to tell me it was a sinus infection, but nope!

Im shocked that it’s both—my home COVID tests were negative. I’ve been good about getting COVID vaccine boosters and flu shots, but hadn’t gotten them yet this school year.

Made it through the day because it was easier to go in than make sub plans so early in the year. Crashing on the couch, but wanted to say thank you to Andrea for the chargers! These will be perfect for our new devices, especially since we don’t get any extras!

Index Card Castles is my favorite back to school activity! They have to complete different challenges, and they have to do it silently! It’s a magical few moments while all the groups are so focused and building 😊
Day 1 ✔️
Had groups sort cards with place values and put them in order. This sent one kid over the edge because I said there are place values smaller than the ones place. Apparently decimals are a lie and I’m a trickster, which is what was shouted as the kid bolted from my room 😂😂😂
This will be my 15th year teaching 5th grade. I’ve had 3 different classrooms- 1st one for 9 years, 2nd one for 2 years, and this will be year 4 in my current one. #edusky #teachersofbluesky #teachers
Palestine had a booth at the Ethnic Enrichment Festival for the first time, so they also got to participate in the traditional clothing fashion show. The audience erupted into applause and cheers when they were on stage. It was a beautiful moment!

I asked parents to write their student a little note for the first day of school and they are absolutely the sweetest!!! This is a tradition I’ll continue every year! Former teachers wrote for the few that didn’t come to Back to School Night, which is also sweet!! 🥺
