High Fidelity remake but the inciting incident is Rob's transition.

But the model's still pretty conventionally fit, and the garbage classified ads in the back advertise fat camps.

Good news, chesty chicks! The new Sportshape Collection from JBI Jogbras (available at most department stores) has sports bras that go up to size 44DD. Fifty percent of y'all aren't getting AIDS information in school. We think this is a pretty dangerous state of being and thought you might want to take matters into your own hands. To learn about increasing AIDS education at your school send a SASE to the Center for Population Options, 1025 Vermont Ave. NW, Suite 210, Washington, DC 20005, and ask for their free info.
Sports bras going up to 44DD is about as close to trans representation as we get -- and then actual HIV/AIDS education work. Looks like Center for Population Options is still around as the Advocates for Youth organization.
When will I get over Seventeen's constant chomping of Sassy's ideas? I would like to rise above it, but I can't
The current (2026) relationship between institutional journalism and underpaid indie media organizations and freelancers summed up as Seventeen vs. Sassy.
Portrait of a chaser at 50
Anyway -- Sassy good, '90s bad. Some other "fun" stuff in that issue: Bands as shibboleth
looks well. Kurt, who probably really is 24, is very cute, with incredibly blue eyes, which are set off nicely by his pink-streaked hair. However, he is so skinny that I would like to force-feed him a solid meal. He's wearing disintegrating jeans and a cardigan over an ancient Flipper (the band, not the TV show) T-shirt. His black sneakers have holes in them. "He's got the number-one record," says Courtney, in her scratchy voice, "and he only has one pair of shoes."
What's that you say? Complete dirt bag (complimentary) disregard for you clothing and personal appearance otherwise?

“yeah it’s nothing new, it’s been going on for years and years. I don’t understand why it’s such an issue still. I don’t know. I personally like to wear dresses. I wear them around the house sometime. So [MOST TRANS GIRL CODED EYE ROLL YOU HAVE SEEN IN YOUR LIFE]”

Before you knew it, they were boyfriend and girlfriend. And now they're planning to get married as soon as possible (maybe by the time you read this), both wearing dresses. Kurt likes wearing dresses because they are comfortable and says he looks best in baby dolls with flowers on them.

Once the idea's been introduced it's impossible not to see it whenever old pictures surface. I've met this girl dozens of times.
Pre-auth went through — ultimately still waiting but the flavor of each stage of waiting really is a — thing.
nodding along, envious of scale, duly impressed, but also faintly heard muttering under her breath "... but it's the LaTeX girlies who get called sickos"

Apparently I'm also capable of photographing (checks notes) cisgender (sp?) people? (Band is Valkerie valkeriepdx.com)
thank you so much, I was not aware of Icarus/Fireweed before you sent this! 💜
thank you so much! 💜

I feel a little a little sad about this generation of young drinkers needing to stumble home under these terrible (if energy efficient) LED grid lights.
One of my favorites early Portland memories is, soon after moving here, telling my then girlfriend (a PNW lifer) I was having trouble remembering which mountain was Mt. Hood and which was Mt. Saint Helens and she said “well, which one has a top and which doesn’t?”
still love this shit
Left field question: Do any of you know of media (preferably reading) that covers folks living with significant mental disorders (schizophrenia, Bipolar I, etc.) and trying to do so without meds? (First, second, and third person accounts all wanted)
not sure, but internet train nerds think it’s something to do with computer controlled door systems?

Photos from the event came out so so -- had metering issues aside from the film pushing. But also I burned off some shots at the end of the roll and I'd forgotten how weird the tonality of pushed Tri-X shot in daylight can be.
Went to a mic last night, didn't read, but a younger women said nice things about the work I'd read in the past and described my poems as "sitting with grief" — and I realized maybe it's not all bad that I haven't been able to write lately.

ah, right, the "maybe I need a Leica?" step on my journey back into photography
It's funny how industry and capital never managed to develop a straight forward system for "website that sends web pages to people irrespective of how many people want the web pages", and how most big sites are just a few weeks of autistic burnout away from collapsing under their own weight.
"favorite" is always fraught when drawing from the unhappy years, but this one's stuck with me the most and I still think about it regularly.
(without saying your age, post your favorite film that released the year you turned 18)
Cover of the Madonna CD Confessions on a dance floor.
Also -- maybe best album? Or at least goes harder than any on those first three tracks.
