Hochul defends climate law changes If advocates hopped Gov. Hochul would hear their vehement disagreement with her climate proposal, she didn’t in real time: She wasn’t there.

On Fri, Hochul shared her proposal to weaken the Climate Law citing affordability. But, as @deborahjglick.bsky.social said at the rally, “The proposals won’t help that. We need to do everything we can to build renewables as fast as we can.” Via @spectrumnewsny1.bsky.social bit.ly/41w7rnI

@amannakelles.bsky.social “@governor.ny.gov wants to talk about affordability. The answer is CLCPA. If we know NY is one of the highest consumer of methane in the country then the only way to stabilize our bills is to get renewables. Get those regs released.”

Asm. Glick: “It is very clear that we have no details to rebut because we don’t have any leg language to look at. But what we do have is reality. There is an affordability crisis. We have a climate crisis. We need to do everything we can to build renewables as fast we can.”‬

Across NYS, thousands have benefited from #cleanenergy upgrades like insulation and heat pumps through the EmPower+ program. But recent budget cuts slashing funding from $220 M to $80 M by 2027 could reverse this progress.
