Weird. These people are just WEIRD.

Graphic with a blue background and large white text reading “DEAR AMERICAN FRIENDS.” Below is a screenshot of a post explaining that Canada does not have CBS, that a “60 Minutes” episode aired normally in Canada, and stating that Canadian networks are not subject to U.S. government interference. The post ends with “We’re not under a dictatorship. You are.”
This message hits hard.
City council is at its best when it takes two hours to complete a pre-functionary, money-control process on something it has previously approved.
I am begging Canadians to understand that Canada Post, like public transit, should not be a business - it's a service.
Canada Post is a lifeline for rural, remote and Northern communities and overall, we need to re-evaluate why people think they "need" random shit delivered ASAP.
If you’re ever bored & want to see a summary of incompetence and arrogance, read the Court of King’s Bench smack-down of the UofR Students Union.
“URSU admits to recent mismanagement and misappropriation of funds…”
They admitted to theft. On the record!

For those @uregina.bsky.social students who are frustrated by the behaviour of the URSU executive, I created a cheat-sheet of next steps to exercise your rights & hold the Executive accountable to the membership.
Remember, the URSU Board & lawyer answer to YOU. #YQR

If you believe the SGM (or any conduct of URSU, for that matter) runs afoul of the Non-profit Corporations Act, as a member of URSU you can ask a Court to investigate.

Sounds like there were some law students who were able to get in & they did some schooling
But the pressure needs to remain high
If I were the UofR, I’d offer up the gym for the SGM. Make sure there’s no excuse for online shenanigans
I’d also ask a Court to investigate

In a shocking twist, URSU was unable to find their way out of a wet paper bag…
Probably for the best. The Dissolution Resolution itself was not lawful (directly contracted URSU’s Constitution)
Not to mention improper notice was given for the meeting, & verification of members was weak at best
#YQR
and super sus that the “date of notice” at the foot of the Sept 22nd change is different (Sept 10) than the date of the notice itself.
ursu.ca/amended-noti...
And I’d guess that twice amending the physical location of the SGM on 1 or 2 days’ notice, and then amending the online location from Zoom to Teams with no notice will run afoul of Non-Profit Corporations Act requirements.
This meeting was over before it began.
ursu.ca
& get the popcorn out…even tho the meeting is Chaired by a lawyer, the actions contained in the Dissolution Resolution aren’t legal
URSU’s Constitution explicitly says that upon dissolution, all assets are transferred to the U of R Board in trust.
Can’t amend Const at SGM.

I love the consistency of brand for URSU.
Clowns can’t even fold their organization without breaking the law.
And they have a *lawyer* chairing the Special General Meeting
The incompetence is stunning
As is the Board’s apparent believe that they can simply wave a wand & be free of accountability
A constitutional amendment itself requires:
• Proper advance notice to all members;
• Approval by the required special majority (URSU’s constitution says constitutional amendments need a 2/3 vote at a General Meeting with quorum present); and
• Compliance with The Non-Profit Corporations Act,2022
If the SGM resolution proposes something different (like appointing a liquidator who holds or disposes of assets) that would contradict Article XV.
To lawfully do anything other than turn these assets over to the U of R, URSU would first need to amend Article XV of the constitution.
URSU’s Constitution (Article XV) says that on dissolution all of URSU’s assets, property, and information must be turned over to the University of Regina Board of Governors in trust.
If somebody has more cars than they have parking spaces for on their property, I'm not sure why I should be paying taxes to give them a parking spot on the street in front of their house.
Juno Beach, June 6, 1944.
When Americans and Brits were still struggling in the water, young Canadians were clearing the Nazis out of Normandy.
This is who we are.
We wouldn't sell out our country or any other nation to thugs.
Go ask the people of Normandy.
They will tell you what Canada means.
I’d prefer to just see free transit for everyone under 18, but this is a step in the right direction.
(also, getting people riding is an investment in the future - if they don’t ride as kids/youth, gonna be a lot harder to get them to rides as adults. Car culture doesn’t change quickly)
Nailed it.
Perfect, thanks!
Really interesting.
How is library attendance calculated? Bodies through the door? Unique transactions (each time a client check-outs books; each event registration; etc)?
I’m intrigued by this, but the article doesn’t explain what library “attendance” is - I’m assuming people through the door.
The document doesn’t explain methodology, which makes me curious.
Honestly, I think she kinda knows what she’s doing. It’s not the right thing, but she knew how this would go. She knew she could show her base that she “stood up for Alberta”… knowing full well it wouldn’t impact the course of Canada’s response to Trump.
She’s spineless.
Is she a traitor? Maybe.
Is she pandering to her base for votes? Yes.
Because she knows full well that the national approach will go ahead. It will impact every province… and now she can point to Ottawa & blame them. And she can say she “stood up” for Alberta.
She’s an opportunist.
Too much, or just about right? 🤷🏼♂️
LOL… doubt Moe gets an invitation. No one knows who he is.
