I'm so sorry. I thought our people were cruel but that is contemptible. Take care.
I try and tell people that our jobs don't exist anymore, that we are essentially extinct. But it always sounds overdramatic.
I won't be but thank you. I am applying for several other things though!
Thanks for that ... ! I think I have until July if I wanted to apply for BA Mid-Career, so, by that measure, yes. In terms of where I should be, no.
Oh there's plenty of good there too but still unfinished business.
I still haven't published it. Maybe it will be a real boy one day.
P.S. I think I'm still hydrated from the amount of water I drank in that viva.
Yep yep.
But if someone wants to know the minutiae of the publication of a new translation of Capital in 1928, I'm still your woman.
Just realised that I submitted my PhD thesis 15 years ago this week. Have EXTREMELY mixed feelings about that ... I'm not sure past me would recognise what I'm doing now.
Ah okay. That makes sense. Am happy to talk to you about that book idea sometime. I have many thoughts!
Hang on, are they saying that Engels did extensive research in Derby???? Because that is ... not true.
That looks a bit odd to me but might be lack of context. Can you send me the whole thing or more of it so I know who is being referred to?
WHY ISN'T ANYONE TALKING ABOUT THE REAL NEWS STORIES!!!
Me too but then I once cried in an exhibition in Manchester Central Library because they had a street directory you could leaf through and I saw my Grandad's name. I'm a complete melt.
Weirdly, it looks like she was the oldest! I met her in the mid 80s soon before she died - she would be 114 now!
I did actually meet all of the siblings except James, who died in the 1970s. That's a first for me for a census, to have met the majority of the people on the return.
Well a few things cleared up by the Irish census including correct birth order of siblings and the real name of my (great) Auntie Cissie - Bella, because, why not? I mean, it makes perfect sense as a substitute! Bless the Irish state for making it all free and easy to use.
Thanks for this ... This will be the first one with my grandfather on it.
You were warned!
It is lovely but it is A LOT this week.
Last night John overheard the announcer talking about the programme following Sort Your Life Out and just flat-out vetoed it: 'Jesus Christ, Cath, don't do it to yourself.' More cheery TV, please!
Re my last RT. It's a great funding opportunity though I do give myself the ick by sharing a photo of myself. I did not choose it!
⏰The deadline to apply for the 2026 @beinghumanfest.bsky.social is this Thursday 16 April at 5pm.
Funding grants are available to connect your research with local audiences through inspiring public engagement events.
Don't miss your chance to take part:: https://bit.ly/4kuToHO
The main topic of conversation between my mother and me at the moment is what TV programmes are off limits if we don't want to cry ourselves into a migraine. With this knowledge, may I tell you to save this week's Sort Your Life Out with Stacey Solomon to another day if you're feeling fragile.
Ulster was named THE University of the Year in 2024, to much fanfare, in "recognition of its role as an anchor institution in a region" and to "honour" the completion of Ulster’s £364 million Belfast campus.
The baubles don't matter. The jobs do.

Oh Ben, that means a lot. Thank you!
‘I think it's very, very important for the pope to be careful when he talks about matters of theology’ - jaw dropping stuff from Catholic-come-lately JD Vance. Like lad, whether you agree with him or not the Pope’s whole thing is theology - it’s been a papal thing for, oh you know, 2,000 years now
