"Part of the reason the weaponization work has been difficult is that you need people who are MAGA and who are really competent," said Chad Mizelle, former chief of staff for Bondi. "Many career prosecutors are not interested in this kind of work. It's a very small group of people."

Framework announces Laptop 13 Pro, ‘the MacBook Pro for Linux users’ Battery, rigidity, CAMM memory, and so much more.

The Framework Laptop 13 Pro feels like night and day compared to previous Framework machines. So little flex. Touchpad feels fantastic. Screen looks great. Even easier to pop open. Working on a video now!

PILOT: G.Y.O

AVATAR: Petrichorus

A "Data Fisher" whose Avatar allows him to encrypt stolen files as simulated fish. If he can catch them, he can harvest the data from within and offer it for sale at his "fish market". Different files generate different species/sizes, making every catch unique.

We need to stop accepting views expressed on Twitter as real opinions. The sooner everyone assumes that the median post on that website is done in bad faith and principally designed to chase clout, the sooner we stop letting these fake controversies take up all the oxygen in the room.

If you put the two stats together basically you get "40% of music uploaded to deezer are AI fueled frauds trying to pose as other musicians and no one is actually listening to them" which sounds less like a technology trend and more like a DDOS.

Hats off to ars technica for actually mentioning the fraud in their headline, other wise I would have ignored it

Deezer: AI-generated tracks now represent 44% of all new uploaded music - Deezer Newsroom As the only streaming platform tagging AI-generated music, Deezer now reveals that nearly 75,000 AI-tracks are uploaded every day

There's a bunch of headlines today about how 44% of uploads to Deezer are AI music, as if the AI music industry is booming.

But the actual source says 85% of them were frauds and in total only account for 1-3% of actual listening time. It's journalistic AI washing.

I saw someone going "Ugh I wanna play Pragmata but I don't want people thinking I'm one of THEM" like man it's a brand new AAA Capcom game nobody who isn't brainrotted is going to think you're a pedophile

Disney promoted pixar’s films disproportionately more than their own to manufacture consent for the closing of their 2D animation department, which had gained significant bargaining power over payment for their work due to the success of the Disney renaissance

Pragmata is interesting. Very funny to make The Last of Us but without any of the spiritual hideousness and everyone immediately starts screaming.

a woman is standing outside (at the entrance door, at the top of a set of steps) a large multi-story building with a lot of windows. a red sports car is parked at the bottom of the steps. a large disembodied woman's head is in the sky, looking at the building.

The Columbine massacre was on this date in 1999. Instead of energizing our country to get gun violence under control, it kicked off a new normal. One of the best explanations ever of journalism's destructive impact on mass shootings came from Roger Ebert in his review of Gus Van Sant’s “Elephant.”

It's no surprise that apple products, famous for overpriced ram already, were suspiciously insulated from the 4x increase in ram costs from nov 2025 to today, only for the last few weeks to see a bunch of products and high-ram configurations get de-listed from apple's site in response. They know.

A clip from The New York Times reads: "But only the entities that officially paid the tariffs are eligible to recover that money. That means that the fuller universe of people affected by Mr. Trump’s policies — including millions of Americans who paid higher prices for the products they bought — are not able to apply for direct relief.

The extent to which consumers realize any gain hinges on whether businesses share the proceeds, something that few have publicly committed to do. Some have started to band together in class-action lawsuits in the hopes of receiving a payout."

The average American family paid $1,700 in tariffs last year, according to the bipartisan Congressional Joint Economic Committee. Few will ever see any of that money back. The refunds will go to companies, if doled out at all. What a joke.

Orion Pictures or Canon is the definition of dying as a beloved indie studio. Lionsgate was an indie darling until 2005 when they pivoted to trashy comedies and big budget nostalgia bait and disaster flicks

The correct model for a dark souls / elden ring film is 1981 Excalibur where you let some young weirdos go wild with cameras and rennaisance faire outfits out in the middle of the woods for $11M and come back with something so fucking weird people buy copies of it for the next 40 years

Dear A24, you either die a beloved indie studio or you live long enough to become the next lionsgate

Adding to this, checking the top 50 grossing video game films, Hitman, Mortal Kombat, 1994 Street Fighter, Max Payne and Warcraft might be the only exceptions that are:
- Not animated kids films
- faithful to the source material
- Still profitable

But Warcraft is the only one with a >$50M budget.

I was curious so I looked up the top grossing video game films of all time and if you exclude animated kids films and genre transplants like Tomb Raider/Need For Speed/Gran Turismo/Uncharted, there's only been like 5 films in the last 20 years that were based on video games and actually profited.

1 day ago 2 0 1 0

Path 3 is to be an Anime film, such as Yo Kai Watch and Pokemon, neither of which count for Hollywood.

The *only* films that don't fall into those 2 categories but still profit were the 90s Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter Films. Everthing else (Doom, spirits within) flopped.
