I love seeing how many content creators are making videos on Discord alternatives after the whole age verification fiasco. From small time creators who make keyboard videos to big tech channels. I'm vouching for Fluxer as a platform. Love the work they're doing.

Yeah no. I want nothing to do with Persona.
Wow I can't access Reddit while logged into my account anymore. I'm an adult but I'm vehemently against age verification that I straight up stopped using Discord because of it. Guess no more Reddit for me.
Some people do find these features genuinely useful and if the browser didn't include it, they'll just use something else and take market share away from Firefox's already small userbase. At the very least they make it very easy to nuke all the features off browser in one click.

"Make this game look more realistic"
I know Nvidia loved to talk about their vision for 100% neural rendering but this feels like an AI slop filter. Put it back in the oven.

Anti-AI people are swinging so far in the opposite direction that they're getting seriously annoying. Yes, I understand seeing AI generated content is annoying but it's worse if you claim human generated content is AI and when told otherwise you DOUBLE DOWN ON IT??
Nuance died the moment I saw people arguing about Hatsune Miku being AI.
Hell yeah, images do take a painfully long time to load sometimes so it's good to see it addressed.
What in the stupid ass law is this?? You already need to be 18+ to buy the game and if your parents bought the game for you they'll probably be there to scan their face when their child asks for it anyway. Adding face scan is pointless.

Hilariously bad Steam scam dropping into my DMs. Wanted to see how far I could take it before they got pissed off and couldn't help but laugh when they dropped the Razer gift card link.
I'm so serious when I say the devs are straight up vibe coding critical infrastructure and the testers are testing with non-working AI generated data. I have to get into calls and point these issues out, but I'm pretty sure I'm getting paid less than them.
As someone that occasionally uses AI as a programming assist I sometimes have to defend AI usage because there are genuine benefits that are regularly dismissed, but my co-workers are really testing my limits with the way they raw vibe code. Stop blindly deploying unvalidated AI code >:(
I don't know if I would call 2 hours "catching up on some missed sleep", but I probably wouldn't be sleeping much either if there was this much pressure. You better get some real rest after everything is online.
I'll still keep my Discord account active in the same way I keep my Twitter account active as an avenue to reach out to me, but it will not be a primary communication avenue after they decide to age gate my server.
There is not a single time Discord support has ever answered my question or provided any kind of resolution. I've had to build bots over the years to patch things that took Discord years to resolve. I'm glad to be leaving.
Discord support is useless as usual. When I ask about an issue with age verification the ticket auto closes linking me to K-ID support. When I ask K-ID support they forward me to Discord support. When I ask questions about the auto NSFW they misunderstand my query and close the ticket. Garbage.
Any voice servers for Australia in the roadmap? Plenty of us over here!
My brain is so wired differently that if I were to ever say something so confidently incorrect to the point where people think I’m ragebaiting, that’ll become a core anxiety memory that keeps me up at night.
I don’t understand ragebaiting. Sometimes I see some post or comment say something so obviously stupid I just laugh at them and move on. I don’t engage, I don’t argue, I just move on. Why would you intentionally make yourself look stupid for clicks?
Genuinely how do you get constructive criticism these days? I appreciate criticism because I makes me better at things, but the internet is a minefield that will send death threats at you for nothing burgers. Completely unhelpful.
There's a lot of people that need to touch grass today. Breaking Bad "fans" review bombing other franchises just for being good, TADC "fans" harassing the creator for not giving enough focus to certain characters. If I ever make a successful franchise, don't bother being a fan if you're this toxic.
Oh and most of these are vibe coded AI slop anyway. Do you guys seriously believe people would choose YOUR option over something built by actual software engineers?
Feels like a new Discord alternative is popping up every day. While it's good to have options, having too many options can lead to decision fatigue, especially when you're not offering anything new. Maybe start focusing efforts on 2-3 good projects instead.

If anyone is willing to argue with me over any of these points, feel free to. I'm willing to accept arguments on both sides so long as you can also be reasonable about it. Don't be vague, state your points clearly.
Now what I can agree on is the RAM that they're stealing from us consumers. It's totally ridiculous that they get priority over us to the point where hardware prices have to skyrocket over it. Jeff Bezos is downright evil for saying that all compute will be rented in the future.
And before anyone says "USING AI DRAINS A WHOLE LAKE A DAY":
- AI doesn't literally drink water, it's used as cooling
- Most companies aren't maliciously draining water, they're migrating to closed loop systems now
- Run the models on your own computer instead. You know that doesn't use water.
To elaborate further so there's no confusion:
- By reference material I mean in the same way that artists photobash things together.
- By used correctly by engineers I mean if comprehensive testing is still done by humans instead of having a whole app vibe coded by an exec.
Hello world! if you're looking for someone to follow that can be normal around the word "AI", I'm right here. Here are my AI takes:
- AI art ruins creativity, but is ok if used for reference material
- AI in engineering can bolster productivity IF USED CORRECTLY BY ENGINEERS
Thanks for listening!
Just because the state machine isn't a black box neural network with billions of parameters, doesn't mean it's not AI. AI isn't just LLMs. I hate how we've roped the terminology together because now we can't be reasonable around the word AI.
