Am I wrong to be very concerned about the availability of the Warners repertory library if it is bought by Netflix? Will the classics still be offered to theaters? Will they support 35mm prints?
A love letter to movie theaters and the movie-going experience, a look back at the history of the historic Midtown/Metro Theater on New York's #UpperWestSide, and an introduction to our new name and new vision (debuted at our Big Reveal in October). #arthousecinema

Diane Keaton has left us too soon. RIP
Come see Joan Micklin Silver's classic indie film #HesterStreet and hear about the new stage adaptation we are working on. It was a hit in its DC premiere, and the next step is to bring it back home to New York City.

Is it time to start planning a Mount Rushmore of former late night talk show hosts? Only two spots left, although that won't last long.
Robert Redford was a great actor, writer and director, but his biggest contribution to the art was the creation of Sundance which defined American Independent film. Those of us with careers in the field owe him tremendously. RIP
It's now crystal clear that any attempt to "fix" awards shows only make them worse. Just let them be what they want to be.
I've never thought there was a bad time to be honest about the fact that a horrible person is/was horrible. But after this week's whitewashing of Kirk by the media and political commentariat, it feels not just permissible but essential to fight both sentimentality and dishonesty at top volume.
Update: the local weather chart is back in the Times today. They must have read my post.
