in every other esport, it happened to me when i was learning league. other esport huds have only gotten more and more complex, but they don't have issues retaining new viewership and often times new viewers can actually learn from the extra information

youd just need to premake an alpha mask img for each of the maps, and then have the mask loaded into OBS/Vmix based on the upcoming map mode as inputted in your datasheet/dashboard. its a bit of prep work but the only thing that needs to be done live is the same stuff you need to do rn for minimap

the minimap being masked out instead of square-cropped is something thats already implementable though and im surprised to not have seen anybody try it. its much more space efficient and much less jarring imo, even if some of the edges are forced to be a bit janky
