Agreed, but the book is even better, especially if you're scientific.

Free online Human Factors and Ergonomics session based around the most recent SHOT Report which contains #HFE lessons from UK Haemovigilance. Come and join us for an informal hour of fun. Info and registration details in the link.

This post reminds me you get valuable life lessons anywhere. I learnt to fold fitted sheets working in a launderette when my kids were little (they all learnt too). Not many PhD scientists have a job like that on their CV - great use of a maternity break.
Good wishes to @jessphillipsmp.bsky.social
UK Haemovigilance scheme, Serious Hazards of Transfusion (SHOT) monitors overtransfusion in the ADU category (Avoidable transfusion,
Delayed transfusion or
Under- or Over-
transfusion)

Four Christmas stockings filled with presents
Kids' Christmas stockings all ready for them when they wake, which would be cute if the 'kids' weren't all over 30 #StupidMum
Been meeting with a non-transfusion Human Factors and Ergonomics colleague this morning. Talked about the fantastic #HFE resources on the Serious Hazards of Transfusion (SHOT) website and how they're so useful outside Transfusion too. Go have a browse and enjoy...

Also Badenoch not liking Love Actually is the final definitive proof, as if any were needed, that it is a great film.
Highly recommend #Conclave film. The twist ending alone should be enough to see it getting an Oscar nomination, but possibly that in itself will make it too outlandish for the famously conservative Academy.
Have you faced challenges starting research in transfusion medicine?
Love @richardosman1.bsky.social books. Funniest writer alive. But terrible blood science in #WeSolveMurders. If his next book has 'rare AB neg' as a plot point, I'm sending a contract killer round. Or he can contract me as his blood expert and I'll find him some proper blood-related mysteries.
Link in this quoted post to an excellent paper looking at cognitive biases in transfusion. Understanding HFE in transfusion is so important for patient safety.
That's so kind. Thank you.
#Transfusion #HumanFactors #HFE So many of us are new around here, so I'm shamlessly self-promoting my PhD thesis as an introduction to me. Though it's from 2020, so getting a bit old now

Today I contributed to a webinar about the importance of understanding human factors and ergonomics (HFE) to improve #transfusion safety. Loads of good resources on the SHOT website - excellent #HFE educational material for anyone, not just for transfusion folk.

Interesting transfusion talk to community group yesterday. Were gobsmacked when I told them blood isn't just ABO pos/neg, but has 47 blood systems with 366 different groups (antigens). Mind you, had a few #medical folk in my time say "Just give O neg". Yeah, my profession exists and it's that easy!
Off to do a talk today to a local community history group on the History of Blood Transfusion. I'm defo planning on sneaking some #science into their history minds.
Transfusion biomedical scientist specialising in human factors and ergonomics (HFE). Love all things medical, space, films and books. Hiding here away from that other place. Any like-minded people out there?
