where I gaze out
at all the chances
I don't explore

a desire
to throw off

get lost in #nature—

to be more
than a stoic fixture
in a lifestyle
I no longer
understand.

with choiceless eyes
uncoiled the rope
& said I must now be
unmoored

my sails unraised
I've one foot in the boat
& one on the dock
my arm curled around a piling
for I do not wish to leave

I can feel hamstrings stretch
my arm slips
the hand grips

how long
'til I'm adrift?
