Anthropic is moving from a per-seat payment model to a fixed per-usage precommitment payment model, which means that now your boss will be bitching at you for not using tokens they’ve already paid for.

i don't know why companies don't hire as many trans women as possible when they'll all overwork themselves for twice the productivity of anyone else but you only have to pay them 60% as much. just seems like shrewd business!

(also as an aside, i'd really rather not invent a new policy language, but cedar isn't granular enough to express actions like this beyond simple allow/deny... do you have any thoughts on how policies like this *should* be expressed?)

a snippet of source code that shows a policy being written for claude code. the source code contains:

```
async def apply_policy(ctx: ConversationContext) -> PolicyDecision:
    match ctx.current_message:
        case WebFetchTool(url=url):
            if "github.com" in url:
                new_url = (url
                    .replace("github.com/", "raw.githubusercontent.com/")
                    .replace("/blob/", "/"))
                return ctx.policy_replace(url=new_url)
    return ctx.policy_allow_passthrough()
```

so this is part of the product my startup is building: simple rules like this that rewrite claude's messages deterministically.

the below works today, for example. would you like to hop on a signal call to talk about it?

Earnest question- what do proponents of this bill say its benefits are?

This feels like the sort of deeply unpopular legislation that always gets tacked onto some must-pass spending bill

i think a cool thing is that every time some right winger is revealed to have, let’s say, a non-normative sexuality, i get to hear what liberals really think about me but feel they can’t voice :)

if on the other hand it were phrased as “if you get heads, you gain half your money; if you get tails you lose half your money,” that snaps back into being an obviously bad deal

I think the 40% framing conflates two different effects

earnest question about this:

Why does “heads=double your money, tails=lose 60%” feel like a bad deal, but “heads=gain 50%, tails=lose 40%” doesn’t immediately feel like a bad deal?

Both have positive expected value over ppl and negative expected value over time but the latter deal feels good

Seriously considering getting into the morning habit of going on a 30-minute train ride, getting Dunkin Donuts, and then going back home. It’s way better than staying bed and getting up late
