Also as someone who participated in the protest, the way they describe it is laughable. Yes there was noise. Yes someone was tapping one of the windows in time with our chanting. But the idea that a small bunch of peaceful protesters was such a scary threat is…telling.
“Bell’s rezoning application for the project site was approved in 21 days. Approval for the development agreement took 19 days…Formal construction will likely begin in early May.”
YOU CANNOT TELL ME THIS IS NORMAL.
Omg I checked the rankings section on the site and the top person has sent over 42K cards‽‽ How does that even happen?

Well those newly-appointed councillors did exactly what they were paid to do. Congratulations, Scotty.
“Once we realized that the big ‘public meetings’ about the data center were propaganda sessions, we held our own events to expose the disinformation and present the truth and discuss next action steps…
Make resistance to the data center part of local culture.”
really good suggestions here:

“In the future, there is such a thing as money. But there’s no such thing as *your* money. All the money is *our* money.”
You know an RM council meeting is legit when they lock journalists and observers out. Just saying.
If you want a primer on how rushed and corrupt the timeline for the Regina AI data centre is, well, here you go:
A digital illustration of two japanese lesbians flirting in a queer underground bar in the 80s. One of them wears a blue jacket, the other a suit, while in the background there's liquor and a multitude of little stickers and illustrations of lesbian and queer marks.
The full illustration I did for @taplingzines.bsky.social "We've Always Been Here"
The zine depicts queer couples throughout cultures and history and I had the honours of portraying a Japanese lesbian couple in an underground bar during the 80s✨

Worrye not about 'being productive,' for thou art not a product. Thou art a star daunsinge yn a hopeful skye. A signal blinking across centuryes and worldes. Thou art a song performid just once and perfectlye.
Your daily affirmation:
Be as bold as you need to be. Be as wild as you want to be. And be as weird as you possibly can be.
Worth noting as the rural municipality south of Regina is about to become the home of the largest data centre in Canada.
A bright yellow protest sign reading “Humans Raging Against This Machine”
Sigh.
So how was your morning?
Living in small-town southern AB in the mid-90s, I thought Lethbridge was a pretty cool place.
Driving through mid-aughts, with more life experience, I thought that had been a perception/context error.
Was I wrong? Were they always cool? Did they get cool again? Because this is pretty lit.
Hadn’t been clothes shopping for a dog’s age, so bit the bullet.
ME: This is kinda cute…
CARE INSTRUCTIONS: Hand wash, lay flat to dry in shade, do not leave in direct sunlight, do not dry clean.
ME: This is not a shirt, it’s a mogwai.
"When the focus settles on healing boys’ pain, instead of centering consequences for the underlying beliefs that both benefit men and boys and drive gendered violence, the centre of gravity shifts. Attention is drawn away from how harm is structured and distributed."
This essay really nails it.

Super pretty Chocolate Latte from CozyHaus yesterday. I love this place and was happy to see it busy with an afterschool crowd!
I…can’t even tell what I’m looking at, here. Is it even food?
Having to drive hither and yon all day in a massive snowstorm is JUST. NOT. ON.
