I’ve been spending the past 6-ish hours trying to debug this stupid devicetree problem in my nix deployment and I keep seeing that the framebuffer is not put under the chosen node and I can’t figure out why for the life of me.

Figured out the issue.
Had to increase samba log level to find out that I put bad "force group" parameter. This took 24 hours to figure out and I'm so happy but also mad.
Anyways...
special thank you to iOS files app to allow connecting to SMB shares to help figure out that its broken somewhere and not just a windows issue.
On that note I now massively despise samba because imagine requiring wireshark-like tracing to identify where you messed up

NixOS isn’t so bad once you get the hang of installing it on new devices…
This is for my NAS which has some weird ass OS preinstalled that I didn’t like.
I just fixed a really stupid NixOS + Windows Dual Boot setup with working secure boot and my god I get why people hate secure boot now.
Like the amount of hoops I had to jump through to *properly* configure things by hand is just absurd.
After React2Shell dropped, I had a bit of a panic and then realized I didn’t need to give a shit because I moved away from NextJS.
Ignore the fact I did nothing with SSR for the website or had any significant data protection requirements, but still one less thing to think about.
now I’m in partition manager hell for a bit while I back up this eMMC OS just in case.
TIL I learned that UEFI firmwares can have Watchdog Timers that literally reset the entire computer if OS tampering is detected.
Was trying to install NixOS on my new UGREEN NAS and it didn’t occur to me that the 3min restarts wasn’t a hardware bug

Shoutout to Codeberg for making initial migrations a bit less tedious. Got a ton of GitHub repos that I still need to setup but at least it's fairly automated. Still have to setup mirroring for active repos.

Literally a one-line change Commit message: imagine forgetting to add the special group to the user so it can do dma because you added the udev rule to allow users of that group to do dma but if the group is not there then it obviously can't do dma and that is why you keep getting that stupid error saying the buffer can't be opened because of course opening the camera buffer relies on dma you IMBECILE
