If you are feeling helpless, frustrated, scared through the second Trump era, donating is a DIRECT and REAL way you can bring support to those who need it. When US is being burned from the top down, Liberation Landing is working very hard on the local level to provide support from the bottom back up

"In this time when people in power are spending their first 100 days attempting to attack and discard our beloved neighbors, we are more committed than ever to a world in which no human is illegal, where people have equitable access to nourishment, fresh air, and healing spaces."

"The Liberation Landing campus offers year-round free food via the Love Fridge, fresh produce during growing season, mutual aid meals through Farm Food Familias, land-based educational programming, and more."

"Hospitality means to extend generosity, to receive people with care and a spirit of service, and to greet strangers like you would a friend. At Su Casa / Liberation Landing, one of the ways we extend hospitality and care to our community and neighbors in need is through land and food."

I have very few followers here and even fewer who are foreigners in Japan. But I want answers.

I’m posting this while drunk, so

My Japanese sucks shit. I’m N3 at absolute best (if you know what that means) and N5 if I’m tired. But I am extremely proud of my accent. But all I did to learn my Japanese accent is talk. I want to know what makes this specific type of rich white guy so good at Japanese but so awful at speaking it.

But the main thing I want to know is this: this man—this kind of man—usually speaks perfect Japanese. Impeccable grammar and vocabulary. Understands all the cultural references and norms. But, for some reason, this man cannot speak in a Japanese accent to save his life.

He works in tech or is some kind of “entrepreneur.” He is around 40, has extremely expensive glasses, wears plaid shirts tucked into khakis, and usually has a surprisingly unkempt beard. Often bald or balding. I’m not making judgements. My shit is thinning too. I said specific.

I get a sick perverted joy from watching the anxiety melt away from a service industry worker’s face when I speak to them in Japanese.

Both
Hong Kong Airlines
and
Hong Kong Express
have flights to Tokyo Narita that leave at the EXACT same time. One leaves from gate 21 and one leaves from gate 212.

And I just think that is beautiful and not confusing.

First night in Hong Kong was truly insane. I can barely process it.

I am from Chicago, I live in Tokyo, I’ve spent a lot of time in New York City. Nothing I know of could have prepared me for the wild intensity of Hong Kong.

Discovering why my flight to Hong Kong was so cheap. HK Express is negative frills. What’s the opposite of bells and whistles?

Anyway, I think I’m having an inguinal hernia recurrence, so let’s all keep an eye out for that plot line.

American healthcare is wild. I just received a notification about a medical procedure I had done over 15 years ago. I didn’t even have my current email address then.
