Feeling....... various ways about the hows and whys of Gigantic coming back. Happy for the fans at least.

Donno if I ever posted these old skin illustrations for various promos. They might never get used again. Look. Hurry, look at them! Look!

Become sadder (sorry)

An art director once told me a story, that him helping others at a previous job got him in trouble. Other people had complained he was making them feel lazy by comparison. And his point in telling me this was that I also shouldn't be helping others. I quit shortly thereafter.

Now that BlueSky is kicking open the doors to the world, you might want to remind your followers I exist to help the game dev community find itself.

I am an account that simply follows other game devs. Search my follows for accts you might be interested in. And @ me if you want me to follow you.

ALSO, during stressful/traumatic experiences, the brain releases chemicals that greatly strengthen the neuronal connections around those memories, to help ensure we can avoid similar dangers in the future.

Which is why its so goddamn hard to move past that damage.

Might get to post some work soon that's been under NDA for a couple years. Fingers crossed! Until then, here's Mr Stylized Dog robot assassin guy thing I did a while back. One of the few full characters in my portfolio that I actually designed myself. BEHOLD

This little guy is Dognut, a silly little friend I worked on with Max Grecke. He's one of the FoodPets(tm) we made for the FillMe vinyl toy line that never happened. RIP.

a figure holding a box of eggs flanked by two others. They are all in heavily ornate costumes, heavily patterned. The figure to the left has a bird hat - its beak arranged like horns and a tongue that licks away at their brains. They holds a staff. The middle figure wears a beaked mask with a tongue emerging, and has wings emerging from her heart. The righthand figure has a hat with two outward facing birds appearing like horns. They do not have a left arm but have a nest where the it would start.

a room abstractly ransacked. Levitating against a grassy plain and purple sky, its one wall cracking, desks dissembling, items scattered and falling haphazardly, rolling down the cracking red floorboards. The antithesis to an IKEA assembly manual. An inky trail leads us to a pheasant exiting the scene through a window, quill in talons. The rascal! The little shit!

the busts of two figures, one looks in pain, as they're having their vocal cords yanked from a hole in their throat by the other, who clutches them in a bunch with their furthest hand. With their other hand they concentratedly use a stringed instrument bow on the vocal cords. A rainbow bridges the heads, and is dotted with fantastical music notation. Their busts rest above a small basin.

a dark starry background, and a blue room where a bed sit next to windows looking out to the night sky. Psyche lies naked on a patterned bedframe amongst plants, her white hair arching around to the foot of the bed. She looks in wonder at Cupid - who is illuminated by the three candles she holds up. Cupid appears as a fleshy mass, strung within a halo, from which arrows eminate haphazardly.

Pro tip: This is actually a really easy work accommodation to help people with ADHD and autism recollect their thoughts and not jump from thing to thing where things will get lost. I’ve *never* had anyone push back on this.

3d style test based on a lovely 2d piece by Sergey kolesov. (Same model/texture, three different ramp lighting textures)

Was surprisingly happy with how it turned out. 2d/3d comparison and alt angle render in comments.

This is Bones, based on a lovely illustration by the lovely Max Grecke. This fun little side project turned into a much larger universe of figurines that never actually got made. Very exciting stuff.

That last sculpt? It eventually turned into this sculpt. And this isn't even where it stopped. I build a whole character around this head. And then I completely remade the head again.

This was a fun experiment outside my usual style wheelhouse. Would love to revisit the whole glass skin / refraction as a primary visual motif on a character some day

Currently stuck at the US state dept office in Seattle waiting for my passport. So here's some art.

Sometimes I do actual real physical art stuff! Spray paint is fun. Rainier beer can for scale.

"Skully" character I sculpted, in collaboration with the fabulous Max Grecke. We tried to start a cool vinyl figurine line a while back. Didn't work.
