"Non-vegetarian" is such a nonsense word. If it were then so are non-ovolactovegetarian, non-vegan, non-paleotarian, non-ketotarian, non-pisceterian, non-porcetarian and non-cococolaterian

The software doesn't feel different. The Nothing flair is missing, but that's about it. There are minor differences, but moving to the 9a doesn't register as much of a change. Except the camera. The camera is great.

What I miss (cont'd)

* Still adjusting to the colourful icons. The Phone 1 is very grayscale
* On paper the Pixel is lighter, but it feels heavier
* Charging speed. Pixel is sloooooow

What I liked

* Brighter screen
* Better ringtones
* Camera. Huge step up

Everything else is about the same!

Mini review of the Pixel 9a coming from the Nothing Phone (1) 🧵

What I miss

* Physical dual SIM slots. The Pixel has an eSIM and a physical slot
* Being able to long press and uninstall an app from the app drawer
* The screen is smaller. Doesn't bother me a lot tbh

Ted Chiang's Story of Your Life features a book on the Heptapod language. I imagine it would be very interesting!

The Harry Potter ones will find a mention I suppose. The titles are absurdly childish ("Newt Scamander") but I still can't help chortle. There is H2G2, which has classic lines like the description of the pan galactic gargle blaster.(1/2)

In a capitalist enterprise, the incentives of the owner and the labour are seldom aligned, which affects productivity. True alignment can only happen when everyone is the owner.

This is partly why startups innovate and large companies can't.

There has been a lot of critiques about capitalism. But a die-hard capitalist isn't going to understand these, because they don't talk about incentives. Maybe the convincing argument is one of misaligned incentives.

Podcasts are a thing in India, officially. I just heard an ad for the Kerala State lottery (കേരള സംസ്ഥാന ഭാഗ്യക്കുറി) in one.

This poem, entitled 'Needles' is presented in the form of a Christmas tree. These words form the shape of the tree:

I
wrote
a poem
in the shape
of a Christmas
tree but then forgot
to water it and only a few

days
later
there

And these words are distributed around the base of my poem 'tree' as if they've fallen off it:

were
words
all
over
the                                                      carpet
