I haven't really looked, every slot is filled and there's a couple loose in the boxes it came in. I will tear into it this weekend.

Sometimes you get lucky.

Got an Apple IIe, came with drives, a BUNCH of cards and 100+ disks. It was in GREAT condition, paid $300.

Going through the disks/software I find an original Wizardry in great condition AND the scenario disk "Knight of Diamonds" IN SHRINK!!

Herein lies a PDP-1 rack kit from Oscar Vermeulen. Based on my current track record of assembling kits I'll get to it in 2030. I still need to assemble the PDP-10 kit. Actually, I will probably do this one first.

Time to play some Spacewar!

I did my math slightly wrong, the year is 2026, not 2025.... it's the 48th anniversary of the first BBS.

BBS: The Documentary - YouTube Long before the Internet escaped from the lab, connected the planet and redefined what it meant to use a computer...there was a brave and pioneering band of ...

One of my biggest pastimes of the 80's was calling BBS's. Today, February 16th is the 47th anniversary of the first BBS, CBBS, by Ward Christensen and Randy Suess in Chicago going online.

I HIGHLY recommend the BBS Documentary by @textfiles.com to learn more about it!

My favorite day of the month is when the new issue of Compute!'s Gazette from @computesgazette.com.web.brid.gy arrives in my mailbox! It's like going back in time to the 80's! I read it cover to cover!

One of the things I wanted to do with my Commodore 64 Ultimate was use the Swiftlink MODEM emulation layer to write some games/BBS that used it. I put together a video about programming it in BASIC.

Its a long at an hour :(

Hope it helps someone though! #Commodore64

After some delays due to the snow and ice, this finally arrived at my door this afternoon. I've got a little project for my #Commodore #Amiga 1200!

In the middle 80s I spent a lot of time programming my own BBS on the #commodore64. On the Ultimate I'm doing that again. It took me a bit to get the concept going in BASIC but it is coming. Once I hammer out issues I'll start in assembly. The snow has given me a four-day weekend to play! .

I picked up this book for the #Commodore64 on adventure game programming. I collect books like this and I've been after this one for awhile. Somebody listed this one on eBay at a great price. I'm pretty sure it was only published in the UK. Can't wait to read it!

I will admit that the Amiga is not a "Modern retro computer", but it is in a modern case and has quite a few modern parts in it.

Trying to organize my modern retro systems. From left to right - the #mega65, #zxspectrum Next, Foenix F256K and Amiga 1200.

Still have to find places for the Commander X16 and a few others. Maybe clean off the top shelf! I wish I had a huge room that I could keep them all hooked up at once.

Whenever one of my middle school students calls me over to look at their code that isn't working I always get a bit nervous because you never know what kind of non-Euclidian, Cthulhuian, spaghetti mess you are walking into.

Hunt the Wumpus on the Mega65! YouTube video by Coding with Culp

Finally, got my video on a Hunt the Wumpus on the #Mega65 @mega65.bsky.social uploaded! Lots of issues caused me to have to shoot it about 547 times....the D81 is now uploaded.

Have fun, improve it, it has been a long time since I did anything in BASIC so I was rusty!!

This game on the C64 gets a bad rep, but I loved it.

I absolutely loved this game. I was in Army, stationed at Fort Bragg North Carolina when it came out.

IT WORKS!!! I saw this #TRS-80 on eBay, new seller w/ 0 feedback, asking too much for starting bid, dropped it to $150, I went for it. I was expecting it to arrive in pieces.

It's covered in grunge. The screen is bright with no burn in, drives work!!!!

I'm looking forward to this restore job.

Commodore and their mice in the 80's - they all looked alike! I thought this was a broken 1351 mouse as it would not work.

Turns out it's a 1350 which is not a mouse as it reports directions like a joystick. I wrote a short program on my Mega65, and it showed it was reporting joystick dir.

I've been trying more and more to open BlueSky instead of X lately. But there are some things that I miss about X. The ability to make longer posts and post longer videos etc....BlueSky feels like Twitter 5-6 years ago. I would be willing to pay for those features if they will roll them out.

My Hunt the Wumpus on the @mega65.bsky.social #mega65 is coming along! It should be 100% playable tomorrow evening, I'm not saying it will be done, just saying it will be playable. It would be done tonight, but I have a football game to watch.

SNOW DAY THE NEXT TWO DAYS!

I have been threatening to write a graphical Hunt the Wumpus on the #Mega65 from @mega65.bsky.social! I get so little time with my retro machines, but I think tomorrow is the day for it!

Cold, snowy days with a cup of hot cocoa really gets my creativity flowing!

40 years ago today in #retrocomputing history the #Commodore 128 was released at the 1985 CES show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

From then on, most C128 users just typed "GO 64" from the boot screen. C64 compatibility might have been the thing that held the C128 back.

Unboxing, Stress and Thermal Testing the Raspberry Pi 500 YouTube video by Coding with Culp

I take a look at the new #Raspberrypi 500 and the new Raspberry Pi monitor and stress test and overclock the Pi 500 and look at its thermals. Can I get it to 3.1GHz on stock cooling?

I finally got to open my Christmas present from my mother-in-law today. The 2021 #Atari VCS. When it was released at $400, I said no way. But the recent Black Friday sale was $99 and that was good enough for me to buy or ask for it for Christmas.

Apparently someone is still manufacturing new ribbons for the #commodore64 MPS-801 printer. I bought these from Ribbons Unlimited, hopefully I can try them out soon.

May decorate my classroom with Print Shop prints.....

Note - I assume they are new reproductions.
