My work would not have been possible without my incredible collaborators, funders & supporters of risky research @erc.europa.eu @leverhulme.ac.uk @oxforddemsci.bsky.social @nuffieldcollege.bsky.social @oxpop.bsky.social

I also reflected on this in my keynote:
🎤 “From Friction to Flourishing: Navigating the risks, rewards & long-term advantages of interdisciplinary research”
I noted it is celebrated in theory, yet often challenged in practice.

In his generous speech @juhoharkonen.bsky.social highlighted my work on sociogenomics, family inequality, fertility and methods.
He recognised that #interdisciplinary work is not always welcomed and causes tension...👇

🚫 Fertility fallacies busted!
Our Director @melindacmills.bsky.social joined @lbc.co.uk to challenge myths:
1️⃣ Young ppl aren’t choosing fewer kids
2️⃣ Pronatalist policies won’t fix it
📉 Incentives ≠ long-term fertility boost

I agree that assortative mating, population stratification, etc. has greatly influenced past findings.

I agree that she is an amazing artist & kind that you say it! But I don't agree the @dr-appie.bsky.social et al paper is 'bad science'. We argue that social structural factors, like environment, families, assortative mating & population stratification ARE important AND impact estimates.
