JAMA Dermatology presents RCT data on mobile dermatoscope types in teledermoscopy. 251 adults randomized: 128 used polarized, 123 ambient-light dermatoscopes. Findings show similar management recommendation proportions for both groups.

Although polarized dermatoscopes yielded more reportable images and fewer quality issues, a lower-cost, ambient-light, nonpolarized dermatoscope provided comparable clinical utility at a fraction of the cost. ja.ma/3M0EXOE
