When you’re waiting for news on a project, what’s the cut-off point? I'm still hoping for an update from this exec who last emailed in 2014 saying, “we should have some exciting news on the project next week."

That is a win. I cut five pages of this script by removing all the transitions and extra space before the scene headings. Producer signed off on the changes, sent it to production who reformatted script and put them all back in. Everyone wins.

Producer: Wow, you are FAST! Thought it would take you days to cut the ten pages, but you've done it in five minut- Hold on, have you just changed the font to Courier 6-point?
Me: Yup.

Still think of that time I was pitching an idea and they asked how I approach a first draft and I said I do the page numbers first, then go back and add in the text, and they made a note and carried on with the meeting.

It’s painful to watch right now but the worst move would be to lose Ange. Levy and the board need to back his rebuild, buy the players he wants, improve squad depth. A new manager isn’t the answer.

You can usually instinctively tell if a pitch meeting has gone well. This week I had one which ended with the exec saying, “Thanks for coming in, Giles.”
