I'm just hoping the Twins can finish ahead of the White Sox. The bar is pretty low this year.

Why? Most battery operated smart locks can also be opened with a physical key as a backup.

If you buy a smart lock from a reputable manufacturer, it can be every bit as secure as a physical key lock.

If a burglar is *that* determined to break in, no lock will keep them out.

I can turn off all lights and lock all doors from my phone at bed time.

Motion sensors in the basement- when no one is there, the lights and the TV turn off automatically. I have kids

Fans turn on when the outside temp is above 80.

None of these devices are on the internet. Local only.

100% this! As a manager, I always try to provide a little context about the conversation to be held. Instead of "can we talk" it's not hard to say "I'd like to talk about xyz and it's nothing bad."

I don't know, if you're still outraged by people making unfriendly criticisms of others valid critiques on social media, then 🤷‍♂️. 🤣

I use Brave and do not experience either. As a matter of fact, their built-in ad blocker works pretty well.

Or maybe features shouldn't be installed and turned on by default without any prior authorization from the user. Aggressively pushing products on users without their consent warrants outrage.

12 miles / 10 minutes = 1.2 miles per minute (rate).
10 miles / 8 minutes = 1.25 miles per minute (rate).
Therefore- 10 miles, 8 minutes has a higher rate.

Please take your "multiple STEM degrees" and post somewhere else. If you don't like Smart Home tech, why don't you just leave the enthusiasts alone and post somewhere else? Your self-righteous diatribe is completely unnecessary, and inaccurate anyway.

I’d be happy to help. My wife is an android user and I’m on iOS and she’s pretty happy with the smart home I’ve built with home assistant

Ah, interesting!

What’s a good speaker to pair with home assistant voice preview that is relatively small but has great sound?

I have so many questions. The main one being, “why?” 🙂

I get it, but I disagree. IaC leaves the general public behind. Home Assistant isn't just for techies and is fulfilling the desire to make smart homes accessible to more people. More users means more investment and diversity in devices. This is a far better approach.

List of Chinese dissidents - Wikipedia

As further proof, this is a list of know Chinese dissidents and their very well publicized proof of severe Chinese oppression en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...

I am seeking truth, I’ve asked for evidence of your assertions and you repeatedly say “I know people”. Meanwhile, I’ve provided proven facts about the Chinese govt and their policies. You’ve only offered a silly accusation of US persecution whereby you can’t provide a single concrete example.

5 months ago 0 0 0 0

So no concrete examples. Got it. Chinese students studying abroad are by and large the wealthy beneficiaries of the communist govt.

China literally does just that all the time to their citizens. Can you actually provide even a shortlist of Americans in prison for exercising their first amendment right to free speech?

Names?

You should talk to the hordes of Chinese nationals who have been persecuted by an oppressive govt. abut you can’t because they’re locked away and silenced.

5 months ago 0 0 1 0

Chinese oppression facts:
-1 child laws (finally rolled back due to economic impact)
-internet censorship
-single ruling party
-widespread poverty
-state controlled media
-no freedom of speech protections. -Criticism of the government of any kind can result in prison and loss of assets

Human rights in China - Wikipedia

I don’t have to go there to know it’s true. There is mountains of evidence from objective third parties all over the world. Educate yourself, here’s a good place to start en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_r...

5 months ago 0 0 1 0

Chinese citizens have zero freedom of speech rights and some of the most severe censorship in the world. The US is at a low point right now, but saying oppression is worse here than China is utter nonsense.

That was your takeaway? Did you even read the whole thing? The whole point is how not normal this is.

Can we stop with the clickbait quotes from this guy? I couldn’t care less about Sam Altman’s opinions on AI.

I hope you’re right, but I don’t think you are. I think you underestimate him and his cronies and to do so is dangerous.

He’s not terminally ill, he’s not stupid, he’s not impulsive. He’s power hungry, and he has smart people with horrible plans for the country who are very calculating in their actions.
