People on here just sharing stuff that promotes their ‘side’ in a conflict like everyone else does.
As the saying goes, wherever you travel, there YOU are.
Nothing changes.

Montaigne just dismissing the world, over here, Essay #50 “Of Democritus and Heraclitus.”
The note on Murasaki and Sei is just a general take on how each, to me, reacted to the transience of life, though I think Sei is closer to delight, than humor/disdain. Tho disdain is certainly there.
A Season of Surprises: this year's in-between reading was full of the unexpected. A look back: 💙📚👀

It shouldn’t amaze me, but it does:
No one thinks they are the baddies.
No matter what vile shenanigans they talk themselves into doing.
They are always the good ones.
LOL. I did it during the summer, too. But probably no more after this Fall. No room to read other things and do other stuff.
Absolutely best monster of the week episodes of any tv series, plus first time I paid attention to who exactly wrote the episodes to know beforehand whether it was going to be good or not. Vince Gilligan, Darin Morgan, Glen Morgan, and James Wong.
What sucks about leading 5 reading groups is that there is no time to read anything else. What’s great is that it guarantees you will finish whatever texts those 5 groups are about, without question.
I bought boxed VHS sets of this show, a great one for a while. Once we find out, kinda sorta, what happened to Mulder’s sister…lost interest.
Looks like St Johns College will be doing Classics program this Winter, first two weeks of January via Zoom.

Tonight’s reading group, I find myself more taken with simple expressions in literature than flights of fancy these days.
Skyliners, how you would describe the taxonomy of your personal library? Not just how do you organise your shelves, but how do you conceptualise this to yourself?

If you do, have to put a table behind it.

All the great works of literature span 70+ books: Warhammer 40,000 - The Horus Heresy; The Babysitters' Club etc.

Gorgeous edition, well done! I have the texts, but haven’t read because people claim it’s ‘difficult.’ Then again, people said, ‘Blood Meridian’ was difficult, and it was a lot of things, but not that. Might give it a shot during the holidays.
I have box sets for 20th Century Boys, Goodnight PunPun, and Monster in my cart…I guess we can say I’m about to make a plunge into Manga again….
I think there was an in person CP reading group in SF last year, maybe? They happen through CP, but are rare, I would email Jordan about who did it, maybe they would be up for another.
I wonder what it says about me as a ‘reader’ that I don’t have authors that I hate. I just don’t read them.
It's here!!!!!!!
This new episode of Backlisted is #197. Our annual Hallowe'en show will be #198. We have something a bit different planned for #199. And then, eight years since we first gathered round the kitchen table at Unbound, we reach our double century. Goodness. www.backlisted.fm/episodes/197...
Why Ferrante, just curious?
