I want enemy designs in ShatteredPD's upcoming quest to be based in the existing dungeon regions, which gives me a chance to bring back and old enemy that was removed just about 6 years ago, the inexplicably bearded dwarven skeleton!

Here's a room for ShatteredPD's upcoming quest that I didn't share in the recent blog. The waves of lasers can be dodged with good movement, but a harder variant of the room could turn the beam speed up and require a consumable to get past.

There are now a variety of implemented hazards in the new quest tester area, although they aren't currently harmful and I still need to work on more rooms types for them to appear in.

I've just patched Shattered Pixel Dungeon to v3.3.5!
In addition to some smaller misc. changes, some enemies have been added to the tester area for the upcoming quest! They mainly exist to test out new enemy AI logic that's meant to better facilitate stealth gameplay.

The upcoming quest in Shattered Pixel Dungeon involves a more stealth than normal, and so enemy AI needs some tweaks to accommodate that. 'Investigating' is a new AI state that gives you just a little more time to duck away behind a corner or door.

Check if you've accidentally enabled the swarm intelligence challenge, which might explain why enemies are attacking so frequently. Otherwise there is no difference between any of the heroes when it comes to enemy behaviour, enemy generation, or item generation.
The problem with something like this is it would change the genre of the game. Benefits that persist between runs would push Shattered more toward being a rogue'lite', not a traditional rogue'like'. Your first run have as much potential as your 100th is part of the point.
By 'adding items' I mean adding more variety of items, but I wouldn't necessarily increase the number you'd find in a particular run. For example, if I added a new wand, you would see other wands slightly less often.

I've made some progress over the holidays on the new quest tester area. It's now entirely generated by the game's levelgen system, whereas the previous iteration was mostly hardcoded.

Please give me a little benefit of the doubt here. I do not intend for the eventual complete quest area to play like a regular dungeon floor. There will be some newer enemy behaviors that make avoiding confrontation a lot more realistic.

Shattered Pixel Dungeon v3.3 is in beta right now, and it includes the game's first new artifact in a very long time! The Skeleton Key can be used to open almost any lock, lock doors that weren't previously locked, and create temporary magical walls!

It's been a common request, so starting in Shattered Pixel Dungeon v3.3 you'll have an option to pick a randomized hero, challenges (you choose how many), talents, subclass, and armor ability! There's even a new badge for winning a purely random run!

The new quest is sadly still a little ways off, but Shattered v3.3 should be ready in a couple of weeks with a 'tester area' for the new quest, plus some smaller additions and fixes. Expect more posts about it in the coming weeks!
