I forgot to post this @hueforge comparison because of the move, but version 1 is on the left, and version 2 is on the right. They're both super cool in their own ways but I think I'm going to list version 2 for sale. All that changed was an added pink and moved color swap heights. #3dprinting

V2 of the @hueforge samurai print with mostly @zyltech filaments is looking REALLY good! 2 more colors to go and I'll know for sure if its better than the V1. I'll update when its finished with the filaments used. ๐Ÿ˜Š

With my blacklight test print successful, now it's time to see how different glowing filaments contrast with each other. Depending on how these turn out, I've got some ideas on how to hide messages or images in the @hueforge prints to uncover under blacklight...

After over a decade of 3D printing, someone FINALLY got his first AMS/MMU system. And of COURSE my very first print had to be a PETG print with PLA supports because I couldn't make it easy ๐Ÿ˜‚
Now to add an MMU to my SV08 and Neptune 4 Max....

Did a different kind of printing-related project today. Girlfriend needed a desk, so I upcycled a tabletop and a Futon frame (both destined for the dumpster), with some custom 3D printed parts and drilling jigs. I'm currently printing some test-TPU prints to replace the Veneer and add accent colors.

So, I came across a couple videos from about a month after my breakup with my emotionally abusive Ex (Left). I realized why everyone would always ask me if I was ok and if I was eating. The photo on the right was me about 6 months later. Huge thank you to those who supported me to get out of that ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ

I wasn't kidding when I said this was big pieces for a big guy! There's a slight gap in between the two pieces due to warping, but nothing a little TLC can't fix. Printed in 2 halves on the Neptune 4 Max. #3dprinting #cosplay #Mandolorian

Awesome, thank you! I just used the Starter Pack links from @sliverbaer.bsky.social to fill out most of them, but I'll definitely use that to fill in any I missed ๐Ÿ‘

Now that I'm going to have to rebuild my small following on here, I just went through all of @metalheadprinting.bsky.social follows to add all my 3D printing friends! Thanks buddy! You made this WAY easier than going through my mutual follows on Twitter ๐Ÿ˜…

I've never heard of Feline Studio! Must be a Kingdom, Phylum, or Class fork of Orca ๐Ÿ˜œ

Man! I wish my SV08 could get that level of detail! I've got to see your fuzzy skin settings! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Soft PLA could definitely be used in some applications, as long as they aren't going to be washed or heated. It's cheaper than regular TPU, and there's more variety in colors, and the properties can be similar.
Also, there is TPE which is the best for clothing because it's Softer to touch than TPU.

Fourth, I found that that the TPU I was using had an incredibly strong bond to itself using a 3D pen to join pieces, so I did some tests with TPU straps. They turned out Incredibly tough. Lastly, theres a thing called "Soft PLA" which is like a combo of PLA and TPU. Easier to print and cheaper....

You could make the "boob window" hole have a 3D printed silhouette of say, butterflies in a field. Sort of give the effect of image-embroidered lace if that makes sense. Keep in mind that with all of these things, a bigger printer is better due to having to print everything in one piece.

Second, I mainly used 95A shore hardness because it was the most accessible, but I played with softer TPU as well. The goal was to make a piece that could be inserted into an article of clothing to make it unique. Think, cut a big square "boob window" hole in a sweatshirt, then sew in the print.

First off, there's a few small tests I did using TPU and hueforge to create custom patches that could potentially be sewn or glued on. The biggest problem I was having, was finding brands that had a wide variety of colors of TPU.

That's what I'd hoped haha ๐Ÿ˜„
You're doing the important work, so that we all have an easier time with our filament selections in the future!

Unfortunately I don't think I have pictures of them since they were tests I did with my Ex when she was really into sewing. But I'd be happy to share what I've learned! There's quite a lot I learned using various shore hardnesses as well as applications. If I can find any pics, I'll add those too

Great to see you're still adding filaments since I say you at RMRRF2024! Hello on BS first the first time btw!

Both of those I always do! I've expiremented with using soft TPU to make sewable add-ons to textile things, so this isn't too far from that wheelhouse. Are you using a hard of soft filament for this piece?

Interesting.. can't wait to see what costume it'll be attached to! I've been thinking of doing something similar with a couple of costumes I've been planning on making. Any tips?

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

Very interesting! Where is the piece going on the costume?

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

Yeah, it really does look nice! At some point, I'm going to build a new printer, and I might have to build one around those gold extrusions.

Didn't know there was a file for that, but it looks like a lot of fun! Definitely gonna bookmark that for the kids i teach 3D printing to!
