🧐 GREENBRIER BUNKER?

No flights spotted from DC to Pakistan (yet) but here's a VIP C-32 flying from Andrews to the Greenbrier Airport in WV.

If you know your Cold War history, that's... creepy 👀

Where Have All the Flowers Gone? - Wikipedia

Echoes of author Pete Seeger, 1955. Or maybe you're hearing The Kingston Trio? PP&M? Dusty Springfield? Bobby Darin? Eddy Arnold? The Four Seasons? Joan Baez? Johnny Rivers? The Lennon Sisters? Harry Belafonte? Flatt & Scruggs? Roy Orbison? Earth, Wind & Fire? (And that's just through the '70s.)

How an ancient resin traded for centuries got snarled up by the Iran war It's not just energy supplies that have been disrupted by the Iran war. It's also hitting frankincense, a commodity that's been defining trade routes in the Middle East for thousands of years.

not too well, as it turns out.

On April 4: NATO was founded (1949). Martin Luther King was assassinated (1968). Winston Smith began his diary (1984). Donald Trump was arraigned on 34 felony counts in the State of New York (2024).

Also, Alice Liddell was born (1852) and had adventures (1859). When did we all go mad?

"Now, look, I happen to know a little about leadership. I’ve had to work with a lot of nations ... at odds with each other. And I tell you this: You do not lead by hitting people over the head. Any damn fool can do that, but it’s usually called 'assault'—not 'leadership.'"

As an American, there are always disappointments to register and arguments to engage; amid the chaos of our battered, monied attempt at self-governance, dissent is constant.
But this feeling of being utterly ashamed of America and embarrassed to the core by its president is new, raw and unnerving.

I think Trump just called for pulling the federal government out of Medicare and Medicaid. Seems like a pretty big deal.

Marines say “lawful immigration status inquiries” will be made by “federal law enforcement personnel.”

DHS only provides a more limited denial, with the spokesperson saying that ICE “will not be making arrests” at graduation.

Those are three very specific elements being denied.
