It’s not every day that you’re working at home and see a Spitfire flying over your house!
Very cool to have caught a glimpse of the 90th anniversary tour!

This has been many years in the making. We wanted to do it right—not simply get it done.
Our goal was to contribute, however modestly, to an academia that genuinely strives for inclusivity.
May the AWoP—small as the step may be—help move academia toward greater inclusion. 🤝🫂🌈🍉🏳️⚧️✊⚖️♿🦮🌐

🧵👇 What we will build?
Honestly #TheTraitors just brings me so much joy.
It feels like proper event television. So perfect!
Mock-up cover of The Psychologist, with a lightbulb shape formed from a crowd of people seen from above. Headline: 'Your work here'.
Who or what would you like to see grace our cover in 2026? Comment below or reach me on jon.sutton@bps.org.uk
We're after 'personal, practical, persuasive' - guidance here www.bps.org.uk/contribute-p...
And of course, you can search www.bps.org.uk/psychologist to see what we've already put out!
I’ll take a look! Thanks for sharing 😊
1 week post-op and at the stage of having enough mental energy to be bored but not enough physical energy to do much about it.
It’s turning into a game of how many books can I read during my sick leave! Always open to any book recommendations 📚
I had endometriosis surgery yesterday and will forever be grateful for the nurse who gave me a tub of ice cream at 2am this morning because I was feeling sorry for myself 💜
Genuinely one of the kindest and most reassuring nurses I’ve ever met!
That may have been one of the best episodes I’ve ever watched of #TheTraitors! Utter chaos for absolutely no reason 😂
Ellie Buckley is not the first Traitors contestant who features in our archive...
www.bps.org.uk/psychologist...
...but I think she's the first one who's a @bpsofficial.bsky.social member!
I find #TheTraitors truly fascinating from a psychological perspective.
So many of the players are there because they love the show and they think they’re good game players.
Yet they all consistently fall into the same traps and cognitive biases. It’s so inherently human and I love it!
Adam on The Traitors says "I can't remember names, I can't sell names"
You're on the right show, bbz. #TheTraitors
2025 was a really rough year of losses and poor health.
Here’s to a more positive year ahead and reminding myself of what’s important in life ✨
Starting as I mean to go on: baking and ready for the new series of #TheTraitors 💜
WANTED! Collaborators for a Big Team Science Systematic Review on Statistical Software in #StatsEd, led by @alyssacounsell.bsky.social (RoSE Statistics Software SIG Lead), @maddipow.bsky.social (@forrt.bsky.social rt.bsky.social Director of Education & Pedagogy), & @richharrisleeds.bsky.social. 1/2
Post a night-time photo or video of the Night Edition cover in the replies below, and I'll decide the best and dig out some kind of prize... probably a few books...
We are looking for bloggers for Voices of Academia for 2026. If you'd like to make a difference by sharing your mental ill-health experience whilst being in academia, please find out more and submit a pitch here: voicesofacademia.com/contact-2/
I can’t explain how much joy #CelebrityTraitors brings me. Utterly hilarious whilst also being a psychological treat!
Ruth going after Jonathan is bringing Maddy and Wilf vibes.
Knowing that my second endometriosis surgery is now booked in and scheduled brings up such mixed emotions. Grateful that I have a consultant who listens and is supportive, with a hint of feeling sorry for myself because it's a reminder that endo just sucks!
New preprint from member of FORRT - How to Develop and Use Open Educational Resources 📣
In this chapter, we position Open Educational Resources (OERs) as not only cost-saving tools but as instruments of epistemic justice and inclusion.

THAMES mnemonic for reading science: T Theory •What BIG IDEA is the focus? H Hypothesis •What SMALLER IDEA is actually getting tested? A Assumptions & Alternatives •What needs to be true to connect T:H? •What else could explain results/predictions? M Methods: Measures & Manipulations •Were methodological tools validated? •Evidence that we’re measuring/manip what’s claimed? E Evidence & Ethics •Are claims calibrated to EVIDENCE? Is EVIDENCE appropriate? •ETHICALLY sound in practice/intent/implication/application? S Sampling Statistical Model •Who was studied? Who are claims about? •Do stat results match verbal ideas?
Teaching a fun science & critical thinking course this semester.
Trying out THAMES as a handy mnemonic for what to look for in evaluating science papers & such (obvs not all are as relevant for every paper)...
Finally watching the first episode of #CelebrityTraitors.
First observation is that it’s interesting to watch celebs explicitly seeing it as a game, whereas I think many people in the normal version see it as an opportunity to win money to change their life and so don’t just see it as ‘a fun game’
I couldn't watch the first episode of Celebrity Traitors last night so I'm very much looking forward to catching up this evening!
So intrigued to see how it goes when people already have an idea of each other's characters. How will that play into the way people play the game? SO EXCITED.
Oh dang. This is an excellent analogy.
