After a great day of doorknocking in Pennington, relaxing at Needle Creek Brewery over a glass of stout! The goat ran away, might not be a registered voter ;-)
Great, engaged citizens. They’re concerned about health, AI, and democracy. Next weekend in #NJ12 come join our canvass! SamForNJ.org

Princeton-area friends, come to a meet-and-greet this Sunday morning, outside Tiger Noodles! Get your coffee next door at the "small" Small World, then say hi!
We'll talk about how to harness democracy to save science! #autism #research

Such a fun visit! Thank you so much for the invite and what a fantastic scientific community!
Idk if you need a sympathetic nervous system reset from *points to everything* Bluey just dropped an orchestra album and it is fantastic!

What do Louie Lunchmeat, Jesse Owens, and Jesus Christ have in common? They are "signatures" on Sue Altman's ballot petitions. We found these and hundreds of fakes, using science and AI.
Legislation requires attention to detail. NJ-12 needs someone who sweats the details. I'm SamForNJ.org
🎉 lab’s first data paper 🎉
TL;DR: we found profound changes in vocal calls produced by mice with early-onset dystonia caused by cerebellar dysfunction. Thus, vocal impairments in people with dystonia may, in part, be driven by cerebellar dysfunction.

Job!
My lab is hiring a pre-doctoral research assistant to work on the neural computations of foraging, seeking common cross-species algorithms. In collaboration with @brainapps.bsky.social & Nathan Lepora.
Closes April 21st
Pls share!

Calling all neuroscientists: please come to a virtual Rally For Neuroscience! Saturday 11am ET/8am Pacific.
I'm hosting it not just as a candidate but as a scientist. Learn how it's happening & how we can defend ourselves!
Sign up: note this is a *free* event! secure.actblue.com/donate/samzo...
Are you thinking about acquiring multi-task fMRI for your study but don’t know where to start?
@bassel_arafat
just published a toolbox to optimally select tasks and run them in the MRI scanner - with many commonly used tasks ready to go! Check out the preprint below 👇
The government oversees safety of roads, flights, food, and drugs. It should do the same for AI.
I’m a scientist who uses responsible AI to help parents with autism diagnosis. In Congress I’ll make sure this powerful technology serves us, not harms us. www.ft.com/content/7f63...
John Hopfield David MacMillan Daniel Tsui Eric Wieschaus Shirley Tilghman and >20 signers We are leading American scientists who are deeply concerned for the future of our nation, and we live in New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District. Among us are Nobel laureates, winners of the National Medal of Science, MacArthur awardees, members of the National Academy of Sciences and of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and working scientists. All of us enthusiastically endorse Sam Wang for Congress. American science has produced countless benefits and jobs for our society. Yet the administration is systematically attacking science, life-saving medical research, and democracy itself. Congress needs representatives who will fight to preserve science. As the leader of a prominent lab researching autism, Sam knows first-hand how science works. As an ex-Congressional Science Fellow, Sam has seen Congress from the inside and knows how to get things done. American science built this country's future. Sam Wang will defend it. The White House is slashing science budgets, nominating unqualified ideologues to lead scientific agencies, imposing destructive rules, and undermining vaccine development. The damage already done to research pipelines, scientific talent, and public trust will take decades to repair. Sam’s research program on autism has led to AI-assisted tools for early diagnosis - a model of how federally supported basic science creates real-world benefits and jobs. With artificial intelligence reshaping our economy and our society, Congress urgently needs members who understand this technology and can craft policy that ensures that AI serves people rather than exploiting them. Sam Wang is that person. As an experienced democracy reformer, Sam has also applied rigorous scientific methodology to the problem of gerrymandering, producing court-tested results in multiple states. He knows what is needed to protect our freedoms. Let’s elect Sam Wang to Congress.
I am grateful for the endorsement of leading scientists from New Jersey's 12th Congressional District! I'm backed by Nobel laureates & pioneers in medicine, physics, chemistry, & AI. I'll defend against attacks on science & build jobs & health for all Americans. www.samfornj.org/news/scienti...
Today, leading scientists & educators from New Jersey's 12th District are endorsing my candidacy! Nobel laureates, as well as pioneers in medicine, physics, AI, and chemistry. I'm deeply grateful. And I'm ready to defend science and the prosperity it brings! www.samfornj.org/news/scienti...
I am thrilled to announce that our group has received a new grant from the Shurl and Kay Curci Foundation to study the neural dynamics of vocal learning in children! I am looking for a postdoc to join us in this effort, currently funded for 2 years. Please reach out with CV and letter of interest.
Excited to share that our work is now published in Cell: Human-specific features of the cerebellum and ZP2-regulated synapse development. www.cell.com/cell/fulltex...
Many thanks to the Sestan lab members @yaleneuro.bsky.social and all collaborators who made this work possible.
Calling central Jersey scientists!
Come out to say hi today at 5pm, Destination Dogs, New Brunswick. Apps, games, and...researchers!!!
You can just show up! Or to help w/headcount, RSVP: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...
Mainly just show up to say hi and talk about how we can save science!
🧠 Resting-state fMRI is often treated as the gold standard for studying the brain’s intrinsic organization.
But is it actually the best way to estimate functional architecture?
We tested this directly.

Rutgers scientists and academics! Come out to meet-and-greet with me at Destination Dogs, New Brunswick.
Who can say no to Destination Dogs? There will be food and drink! Wednesday March 11, 5-7pm
RSVP: forms.gle/6AykuoTq23XW...
(truthfully just show up...but RSVP helps us choose how many dogs!)
Dalylight savings time is stressful for the brain - every year, a transient risk of accidents and illness. We should consider doing away with it.
Put this neuroscientist in Congress and we’ll take it up.

Facts!
Had a lot of fun teaching the first year students about the cerebellum today! Opened with the Powerpuff girls, how the mayor was absolutely useless and horrible at his job, but his assistant was essential, ran everything, and kept the town afloat. Her name was Ms. Sara Bellum. Got audible gasps!
"I've thoroughly enjoyed my time as a NGL! It's been such an honor to interact with the brilliant scientists at the Allen institute and the other NGL members. I've gained so much and will continue to benefit for the rest of my career!" - @heatherdsnell.bsky.social
