There is no โ€œresponsibleโ€ use of AI in schools. The tech is anti-learning. Hope that clears things up!

a group of soldiers are standing in a row wearing helmets and armor . Alt: A clip from Starship Troopers, showing a group of soldiers standing in a row wearing helmets and armor. The person closest to the front says, "I'm doing my part!"

I'm ready to amp it up.

I am a little saddened that my hate for genAI has not been sufficiently expressed to also be blocked by this person. Work to be done, I suppose.

It's hard for some people to see/think about, I do understand that.

Even the things I've seen that acknowledge it treat it like it was a tiny, very contained inconvenience.

I'm seeing impacts all the time and wonder why no one* else seems to as well.

*Not actually no one

I'm in local government (public library), so I imagine it is similar in some regards to schools.

Speaking as broadly as possible to protect folks, both physical and mental health issues are cropping up much more frequently and intensely, from staff to patrons.

Managing a team post-COVID onset has, in my case, been completely different than managing pre- and some days that is really hard to cope with.

I want to see my media acknowledging COVID more because I want to know I didn't imagine it and all the ways it continues to wreak havoc.

ICIRR has two new jobs with the FSN hotline, which people in IL use to report immigration enforcement activity and seek free legal services + social services for detention-impacted families.

I have a master's degree, have been in my field for 17 years this summer, and aspire to earn a peasant wage.

I'm also scoping out mouthpieces, which, yikes. There are options out there.

Shout out to other amateurs trying to learn/re-learn the arts as a way of keeping hold of our sanity.

On the left, Gosling, purchased in 1994, when I started band in 5th grade. My dad had to make monthly payments for some time to afford it.

On the right, currently unnamed, gifted to me for backup use when Gosling is needing a cleaning.

I had to test both, to see if I'm actually playing in tune.

We had a chick hatch at work today! Actually, three but we whisked the first two off to their caretaker. You can see the one left this afternoon, in addition to some chicks trying their hardest to emerge.

We're expecting another three to hatch in the next day.

It is Monday morning, I'm running on fumes, and have to wait for Saturday to get a day off. I have an outreach visit I need to scrape performance energy together for.

For my National Library Week, I'd happily take time off rather than food/snacks.

I'll cross reference with the list we had shared with the hired crew to see if there are matches, thanks! ๐Ÿ’š

Oh! I'm so in love with this news.

I spent many weekends at this corner, hoping for exactly this.

They relocated, so sadly not a complete loss but it's a step.

We were basically told, "You don't have to do anything! That's the beauty of going native "

Okay, but now I don't know if I missed the boat on making the milkweed more butterfly friendly.

Oh well. If things die, I can replant them myself. In theory. ๐Ÿ˜…

I wish the place we hired had done a better job documenting what they planted - we asked for specific plants after tons of research two years ago, they kind of followed our requests. Kind of.

I also wish we had been better about grilling them for that info and care instructions.

I've been trying to get outside once a week, at least, to keep on top of the invasive plants trying to grow in the garden spaces.

Sometimes I'm guessing, based on photos from the planting last year and the placement of old growth. Anything I'm not certain on stays until I get more clues.

My husband is usually the more responsible shopper between the two of us and always does the shopping for the household, but I'm considering revoking his license after a pretty spotless 13 year run.

(To be fair, the cashews were better than expected.)

I just finished This Is How You Lose the Time War and I'm uncertain about my feelings toward it.

Loved the premise, loved the epistolary nature of it. Would anyone argue it wasn't purple prose?

I didn't dislike it but also wasn't infatuated with it. I think it just missed being my brand of weird.

I worked today, so I couldn't try doing Record Store Day, and I know the odds of getting the Bruno vinyl are even less in my favor than if I had been able to go...but I'm just going to see what I can see online tomorrow at rsdmrkt.com anyway.

No universal/work nicknames.

Anyhow. I pulled this month's money today and I'm already almost out after just 30 minutes of walking.

The need out there is great.

I want to live in a world where excess is shared rather than hoarded.

Fuck billionaires and those who do the devil's work on their behalf or trying to be them.

If they're scamming or lying, that's on their character, not mine.

Most people feel ashamed to ask for help.

If the money goes to substances, there's a chance it may prevent worse issues from going cold turkey (substance dependent). There's a science to getting clean and my judgement won't help.

Every month, I pull cash to give away to those expressing need, no questions asked.

Working and housed, working and unhoused, not working and housed, not working and unhoused.

Food, ID, clothes, substances.

I do not ask.

I just ask for a name, give a $20, and wish them well.
