A young yellow-headed caracara (brown body, mottled yellow and brown head) sits on a brown cow. They are staring at each other.
young caracara was eating bugs off of another cow, then jumped on top of this one and stared into its soul #birds

Actually a Silver-throated tanager - my bad (translated the name from Spanish in my head)
A small, fuzzy looking bird sits among branches. It's bright yellow, with a fluffy white collar and green tipped wings
Golden tanager in TapantĂ National Park #birds
I think what this means is that the kids are alright and also that us uncs are cooked in competitive online games
PRESENT DAY
PRESENT...TIME!
it's already hard to believe how beautiful these birds are, and then they open their wings and it becomes truly incredible
the same motmot sits on a branch - it's tail is in view: a line of dark feathers that end in a teardrop shape
bonus motmot - I always struggle getting their tail in frame with an aps-c and 500mm lens. looong birds
A lesson's motmot, a beautiful, medium sized bird with iridescent green-blue-yellow feathers, black facemask and red eye, sits proudly with its prey: a coiling millipede.
it's motmot monday, folks

getting good at identifying the birds in the blurry phone pictures my family and friends keep sending me
A brown jay protrait - the yellow bill and eye ring mark it as a juvenile.
this brown jay (piapia, urraca) is a juvenile -yellow bill and eyering give it away- but at a distance of about a meter its 'pia pia' calls were loud enough to make my ears ring #birds
hey im grump
(my bad, these are not house sparrows)
I traveled to Canada and was surprised to see the large groups these house sparrows move in! In Costa Rica I see them mostly in pairs - maybe here they have more direct competition from the zonitrichia sparrows that already fill the "urban sparrow" niche?
A Tennessee warbler skips among the bright red blossoms of a bougainvillea plant
Have a good week ahead #birds
throw these fucking things in front of a self driving car
I got so stoned at a Mets game once I compared the Jumbotron to the top screen of a Nintendo DS bc it had “a bunch of useful contextual information” and the field to the bottom screen bc “it’s where the game is actually played”
we call these "sergeants" in Spanish, and this one looks the part
mind could use the mental health benefits from looking at birds but body could reaaaally use that extra hourbof sleep
I'm from Costa Rica and it's utterly disgraceful that we fumbled the easiest (on paper) WC qualifier. Happy for these guys and Haiti
honest question (I'm not american so I only see this thing on the occasional nfl stream) - is hating this fucking lizard the point of these ads?
"rosalĂa got me into simone weil" is a turn of events
