Social media is for picking up vibes, not information Users trust it even less than they do mainstream news outlets

"...Musk knows exactly what he is doing: providing propaganda to the baying masses, and of course using the platform to promote his various other companies."

'It’s not just a glitch in your algorithm: the account belonging to one Elon Musk, the platform’s owner, has by far the most reach on X. The other accounts with the most engagement are those of rightwing influencers whose feeds are full of offensive, rage-baiting slop.'

From the drop-intro about the drop-intro to these three perfect paragraphs, this from @bryce.lol is one of the most truly pleasing things I have read in a while

A nail giving a hammer a hug - line drawing.

Absolutely love this brilliantly simple cartoon in @financialtimes.com, illustrating @jemima.bsky.social's timely article on forgiveness (www.ft.com/content/d76c...). Artist is Ben Hickey (website here: benhickey.ie)

Me too! He's so good - he illustrates all my stuff and is always brilliant but this one is particularly great

I know... I think a lot of people find it hard to hold the tension between someone being good or bad. So these readers who are (rightly imo) sympathetic towards her because of the way she's been demonised simply cannot accept that she can also be mean, and take my saying that as further demonisation

"It’s a letting go of negative emotions that are blocking our hearts, taking up valuable headspace and energy, and preventing us from moving on with our lives. It’s an acceptance of what is past, so that we can be fully in the present."

Lol, I know, I haven’t yet posted it on X as I’m spending my day writing and didn’t want to be drawn into debates about her. I wasn’t trying to cancel her anyway, just think she’s a good example of the veering off into nasty places that happens in a no-forgiveness society

How we gave up on forgiveness What was once seen as a virtue is now viewed as a moral weakness — leaving a society mired in toxicity

Once in a while I'll read something that entirely captures my views on a subject. Very good from @jemima.bsky.social 👇 www.ft.com/content/d76c...

How did I end up here? — Nigella Lawson’s first FT column A defence of food writing (and a recipe for rice pudding) as Nigella returns to her alma mater newspaper

"What I value more and more is the sheer physicality of cooking. Here we all are, our minds fizzing and popping, our lives spent on screens. Cooking is a way of establishing ourselves as bodies in the world."

Really, really love this from @nigella.bsky.social
