Tucson Sisters in Crime newest anthology was just released and my friend gave me these to celebrate.

I'm concentrating on other people's fiction so I can blunt the effect of our current political state. I'd rather fight aliens in deep space or enjoy a little paranormal romance with my favorite vampires than listen to the hate and resentment floating around. We need more love and understanding.

It's a bit wild, but it's exactly what I wanted...bright spots of color that survived the summer. The poor periwinkle needs some nutrition.

The brain won't shut off. Who needs sleep, right? What keeps rolling around in my head is a sense of gratitude that I'm still able to attend conferences and the sense of community here. It might be an illusion, but it gives me comfort that there are people who can think for themselves.

Poppy has had an exhausting day. Barking at rabbits, the UPS truck, other dogs...it's just too much.

Sometimes you need to add a little spice to your life-a pile of small jalapeños, chiltepin still on the stem, a golden bell that isn't quite there. Winter gardening is wonderful in Tucson.
