Unfortunately it took me going into renal failure for people to stop and think 'hey maybe this isn't something she can control.' yeah, no shit.

My experience with people around me is they want to stay in denial. People don't want to believe they're not in control of whether or not they become ill or disabled.
Fortunately family and friends have stopped telling me to try random things to 'cure' my chronic autoimmune.
