There is no scientific evidence of ‘immunity debt’ from lockdown. There is #COVID and now it’s clear that children are suffering harm because these children never lived through lockdown. Still there is no action. It’s not normal for toddlers to suffer like this!

A brightly lit classroom with several students sitting at desks. In the foreground, slightly out of focus, is a tall, white Philips air purifier. The students in the background are wearing masks and appear to be engaged in learning. A headline overlaid on the image reads "Air filters in classrooms reduce sick days by more than 10 per cent" in large white font, above smaller text that says "Putting air filters in classrooms seems to boost student attendance, which may be due to them reducing levels of air pollution, pollen, pathogens or all three." The source is credited to New Scientist, 29th April 2025, with an image credit to Arne Dedert. A purple banner at the top left reads "CLEAN AIR NEWS" and "Michael Le Page" is written in white text to its right. A stylized hand icon is visible in the top right corner.
🙌 Great news in New Scientist. An experimental study shows that air filters in classrooms:
Reduced absence by:
👩🏫 12.5% or 1.3 days per pupil
Reduced PM2.5 by:
🚸 32%
Air filtration is a simple way to improve life for everyone. So what's stopping the government?!
It’s election day 🇨🇦
Quick friendly reminder: If any candidate or party does not support human rights for all humans, the rest of their platform doesn’t matter.
If protecting human rights isn’t enough, keep in mind that such people/parties are unlikely to keep promises to anyone in the end.
Good stuff here from @picardonhealth.bsky.social
Vaccination is something we do to create a public good, herd immunity. I think he’s also right about framing this as a child welfare issue

How many B.C. pediatricians think childhood vaccines are safe and effective?
This many...👇
Bottom line: If any party/party leader does not support universal human rights, the rest of their platform is irrelevant. The US is seeing the effects of an abuser in power.
It’s not about electing the perfect leader; we need a responsive party whose principles protect all Canadians’ rights. (3/3)
I know Carney narrowed focus on the economic crisis and cut vital cabinet positions like the minister of Women and Gender Equality…I still think that there is a better chance of Carney/Liberals hearing concerns and changing course, than PP/CPC protecting women and children (2/3)
Screenshot of CPAC news article with headline: Pierre Poilievre Promises Tough Consequences for Intimate Partner Violence”
Re: PP’s IPV Promise
To my fellow advocates/survivors: Please see that PP is behind in polls, and preying on you for votes.
We can’t believe promises made by people who do not respect human rights for all. It’s the political equivalent of an abuser’s promise to change. (1/3)
Canadians, please do not vote for this man. He's terrifying
Thanks in advance 🙏

At Carney events, reporters scrum and decide on the question and who will ask. They can ask followup. At Poilievre events, handlers suggest questions, reporter(s)who agree get priority, and Poilievre chooses reporters with no followup.

Two people raise a transgender pride flag on a snowy day outside a stone building with arched windows. One person adjusts the flagpole, while the other holds the rope. The ground is covered with snow and bushes are nearby.
Five people stand smiling in front of a stone building with arched windows. They are gathered around a flagpole flying the transgender pride flag, set against a snowy backdrop.
Honoured to join @alteracadienb.bsky.social in raising the transgender pride flag today on Transgender Day of Visibility. This government stands with transgender, Two-Spirit, and gender-diverse New Brunswickers as we continue to raise awareness of the increasing global anti-trans hate and violence.
There’s a specific reason I have the idk 🤷🏼♂️ emoji in my profile
It’s because idk 🤷🏼♂️ a LOT of stuff, and openly admit that
We are playing catch up in neonatology because we have so many established practices that are not strongly based in evidence

19,000 people have died from the flu this year.
86 kids and at least 9 had influenza associated encephalitis (brain inflammation)
Vaccinated kids are 64-78% less likely to be admitted.
It’s not too late to get your child and yourself the influenza vaccine!
Remember, EuropePMC is actually better than #PubMed because it includes ALL preprints in search results, not just those including NIH-funded research.

With the NIH cuts, there’s no longer any excuse for any professor, in any discipline, to not address the moment in their classes. You don’t even have to be “political” if that’s how you roll; this changes everything. You need only observe reality. 1/

Also - it’s quite possible that Covid/resp illnesses played a part…but in what alternate reality is the author who followed that by saying it should quickly resolve living? We are letting Covid, etc run rampant, if that is the cause it will likely continue to rise.
If that is the case, I would highly suspect that the risk is due to the underlying SDOH that may be better addressed in a family whose baby is being followed due to NOWS, rather than the opioid exposure itself. The authors including that without context may further stigmatize this population.
I went back and reviewed the article the authors cited re: infant mortality/opioid use. There was only an association with prenatal opioid exposure in infants NOT diagnosed with NOWS. Authors concluded in that paper that interventions offered to families in the context of NOWS were protective.
In light of the Alberta report I am re-upping our paper on the impact of mixing between vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals in the context of covid-19. We had to deal with a real full court press of individuals trying to get the journal to take this down.

That quote reads like a threat of violence, immediately followed by a statement of zero tolerance for violence.
I obviously don’t know Ford personally, but I do have some experience with a certain type of abuser who will threaten violence to “protect” what he feels belongs to him. Just a thought.
🙄🙄🙄
(Just in case this makes it seem like I am winning at parenting or something, kiddo still asked his grandparents the same thing after this conversation …I’ll call it a work in progress lol)
Was this a full grown adult…? I recently heard someone say something very similar and had a conversation with him about being polite and not entitled…because it was my own kid, and even though the upcoming birthday was only his sixth, it is an important lesson that it appears some never get??
Covid level severe in every province and territory
This week in Canada, approx 1 in 43 people have Covid-19 infections.
Rates in each province and territory are severe.
Thanks to @moriartylab.bsky.social for continuing to keep us up to date.
Please mask up, in health care, at work, at play. Please stay home when sick. And get your boosters.
