In an update to the story, DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin doubled down on claims that children were not zip tied and that there was animal fighting at the Wilder race track.
The plaintiffs — all citizens or permanent residents — paint a jarring image of that day. Access to water and bathrooms was often denied according to the suit. In one alleged instance, a 10-year-old who needed the bathroom had to relieve herself in the middle of the crowded track.
