There's also been reports that the Whitehouse is bracing for a book to release that's going to have some kind of big impact.

Wtf is wrong with them? Are they just dumb?

Something to consider might be releasing this as a plugin to use as a source engine for building quick and easy architecture for other people's games. It would need a bit more work to make it produce stuff usable by other games, but that's all work that could be done after you've already released it

Screenshot of a The New Republic article with the headline "Pentagon Threatened the Pope After He Criticized Trump" by Ellie Quinlan Houghtaling, dated Wednesday, April 8, 2026. Below the headline is a subheading stating "It was so bad that Pope Leo changed his plans to travel to the U.S." The article features a photograph of Pope Leo XIV speaking at a microphone with his hands raised. A highlighted quote box contains text attributed to Colby from a Free Press report: "The United States... has the military power to do whatever it wants in the world. The Catholic Church had better take its side."
Note on veracity: The claims in this article are disputed and unverified. While a meeting between Pentagon official Elbridge Colby and Vatican representatives did occur in January 2026, both the Pentagon and Cardinal Christophe Pierre (the Vatican's U.S. representative who attended the meeting) have denied that any threats were made. The threatening quotes and characterization of the meeting rely on anonymous sources and have been called "highly exaggerated and distorted" by the Pentagon and "fabrications" by Vatican officials. The article accurately reports allegations from The Free Press, but those allegations remain contested.

Worth noting that both the US and Catholic church agree the meeting was "tense" but deny that "threats" were made. Still, alienating the church is utterly stupid. The Catholic church probably has more soft power than any other organization on the face of the planet. This is utter stupidity.

#WomensHistoryMonth THREAD 🧵Mother, nurse, civil rights activist and martyr Viola Liuzzo was the only white woman murdered during the Civil Rights Movement. Her assassination happened during the final legs of the famous Selma, AL marches.

Don't know about Viola Liuzzo?

Glad you asked.

A slim hope. Magyer isn't really all that much better than Orban except on a couple of key issues

They build incrementally, one system at a time, and so Claude builds what they ask. Because it doesn't know the architecture properly it doesn't build it properly, and because they don't know about safety and are too ignorant to think about it they don't know it's a problem.

I had originally dismissed this as fake. It's not. He's going absolutely batshit.

You know, it's a funny thing, but right now Trump dying could be a very bad thing. He's as unpopular as he's ever likely to get, and the Dems a odds on to win both the house and the senate. If Vance were to take over just now he could easily distance himself from Trump

The big one feels a bit quick. It might work better if it were slower?

I maintain that Eris is based on the old Tank Girl film/comic

1) That sounds like hell to me.
2) I imagine that it would be wildly successful. Hobbits and a baking show feels so obvious I am shocked it hasn't happened already.

They aren't saying you can't create things, they're using a conversational gambit to mention a game that your description reminded them of. It's not a comment on you, it's a means of talking about something they like talking about. In this case I'm bringing up the game Celeste because it's amazing.

So... You want to remake Celeste?

Mostly because they're all built to be generic. There really aren't that many good and free to-do apps, and the ones that do exist usually require an account of some kind. You also can't make money from a to-do app because it's always one of the first things someone codes for themselves

In cybersecurity specifically you're pretty safe, at least compared to other stuff. Cybersecurity needs someone to blame when things go wrong, and Claude can't take responsibility for shit.

Start making political reality comics that *look* like satire. People who don't notice will think it's funny, people who do notice will already be too depressed to care.

If you were to hand it to an AI you wouldn't "know" the material as well and the quality of the end product would decline. So even the 90% drudgery defines the product

That's quite literally impossible. Thermodynamics means there's literally no way to have a 100% efficient system, of any kind. Let alone something like this. That's nonsense.
