Folks, I’m about to take a rite of passage of sorts: I’m about to order the “Rockies Taco Special” at Taco Bell because the Rockies scored seven-plus runs in last night’s game. I have no idea what to expect. Stay tuned for updates.

I never thought I’d see the day, but it is here and it’s incredible.

Sometimes you just feel like making club sandwiches for dinner.

In the last few years, I’ve developed this way of describing it: the first draft is simply you telling yourself the story. Every subsequent draft after that is you figuring out the best way to tell that story.

If I was a baseball pitcher and I managed to actually strike out Shohei Ohtani, you better believe I’d be milking that shit at every bar I drank at for the next decade or two.

My uhhhhh “doctor” (me in a white lab coat) has advised me to spend the day eating edibles, drinking margaritas, and watching baseball. No, they are not accepting new patients at the moment.

For my money, Abrams is one of the best local bands in town (and Ryan DeWitt is easily in the running for the best drummer in Denver), and after listening to their new album LOON last night, I can already tell it’s gonna get a lot of repeat rotations from me.

Going to the final game of this series on Monday and hoping to see another Ohtani bomb.

The trailer for that new STREET FIGHTER movie looks like it was made by people who actually like the game, and between that and the new MORTAL KOMBAT, it’s a great time to be a fighting game fan.

Current bit that I enjoy running into the ground: when The Lady starts acting like she’s about to sneeze and the sneeze disappears, pointing at her and saying “LIAR!”

I think it’s great that this website continues to fall apart at random intervals for seemingly no reason at all. Just means we’re that much closer to true freedom.

Love to tell the cat that her food isn’t dropping from the automatic feeder for another hour, only for her to look at me like *I’m* the idiot here.

I love doing this at all kinds of places. Coffee shops, bars, delis, restaurants, wherever. If I can’t decide between two sandwiches/beers/coffees/etc, I’ll straight-up ask them which one they like better. Never been disappointed.

I’m slowly filling in some of my old-school thrash metal gaps after seeing Heathen open for Coroner a couple months ago. Right now I’m playing the first Forbidden record and it rules.

I’ve had several Japanese whiskies over the years, and I’m pleased to add this to the list of Good Ones™️.

For all this talk about algorithms and industry-fueled marketing campaigns, I’d like to share my method for discovering new music: follow an opening band you saw and liked and then spend the next half-decade checking out every single other band they tour with. Rinse and repeat.

I read BUTTER by Asako Yuzuki last year and really enjoyed it so I picked up her new one called HOOKED at the airport while I was traveling recently, and I’m digging it so far.
