Alear is their own god damn character + int sys shot their own foot by trying to maintain this sense of player character avatar. The dissonance of letting us customize small things like that but writing a definitive + unbranching narrative is just BAFFLING
I think letting people rename Alear + hand them whatever birthday you want was the stupidest fucking decision in engage because instead of trying to emphasize with Alear's plight by putting yourself in their shoes people go "but I wanna be a dickhead + red Alear is so cool"
Alear should not have been an avatar beyond picking their gender i swear to god
