3.9 million New Yorkers with limited English proficiency or without a high school diploma 🎓 need adult education. We call on @govkathyhochul , @andreastewartcousins , and @cheastie to invest $15 million in FY27 to support Adult Literacy Education (ALE) funding.

We’re looking forward to a productive partnership with the Mayor’s Office of Child Care as they strategically expand access for families in a way that supports existing home-based networks!
Family Childcare will play a vital role as the city expands access to 2-Care. Enrollment is open now through February 27, please share this link: www.myschools.nyc/en/ with families in your network.
We also highlighted the important role networks like University Settlement’s (which operates across Lower Manhattan, in Washington Heights, and in Brooklyn) play in ensuring that high-quality in-home providers have access to updated and effective curriculum and assessment support.
Last week @mayor.nyc.gov came to Chinatown to meet with Ms. Li, a provider from University Settlement’s Family Childcare Network, and our CEO Melissa Aase. We discussed the way family childcare can be deeply culturally responsive, creating real choices for NYC’s diverse communities.
NYC is expanding access to free childcare for 2-year-olds – and to do that effectively, the city will need to engage and support the licensed family childcare providers who run high-quality programs in their own homes across all 5 boroughs.

NYC still hasn’t fixed it – and now @nytimes.com is covering it. Nonprofits continue to wait to be paid by NYC for services already delivered, with 7K+ unpaid invoices totaling over $1 billion. Many orgs have been forced to take out loans to stay afloat. Read the full article: tinyurl.com/6zsapu9a
Passion fuels our work, but it doesn’t pay the bills. Timely payments do. 🕒
Nonprofits deserve to be paid on time for our essential work, like every other industry.
Let’s #PayNonprofitsOnTime and pass Int. 1247, 1248, and 1249.
Nonprofits across NYC are owed a combined $92.4 million by the City for services they’ve already delivered, forcing nonprofits to take out loans, postpone payments, and operate under extreme financial pressure.

Right now, the Governor’s budget gives human services workers a pay cut in disguise. Governor Hochul must make the real investment our social safety net so desperately needs by including a 7.8% investment in human services in the final budget! Human services workers work around the clock serving our communities, but @govkathleenhochul.bsky.social didn’t show us love in her budget proposal. 💔
