TV schedule showing the film Jumpin' Jack Flash, followed by three episodes of Mash
Jumpin' Jack Flash then it's Mash, Mash, Mash!
Queen of Chess doc on Netflix also very good - chess, politics, families, dads and three astonishing sisters.
Everyone should have their own Beatles machine.
Suppose, then, it is better to ban them for how they look rather than what they say?
I'm conflicted. I just enjoy reading about Beatles - really liked Macone's book, pure enjoyment, didn't matter it didn't have much new to me (although inadvertently found out father-i-l was at dinner where Beatles were thrown out of Carlise hotel). Thought this would be same, but now I dont trust it
The wild, the incoherent and the E-street hussle
This is one of the most extraordinary things I've ever read. And curiously uplifting. Time passes, good and bad times come and go. And the sharks will be still be swimming.
Still making people very, very happy.
People will look back for centuries and wonder what experiences like this must have been like. To be there. To hear it now. When it comes to McCartney I am immune to cynicism, which is an unusual and very much not-normal state. It is just lovely to have him here.
We are about to hear a new single from Paul McCartney. This may not happen many more times. Let’s cherish it, folks.
yeah, yeah, yeah!
Really, you should have posted as a thread on Rebbit instead
"That was a Party Political Broadcast on behalf of the Labour Party..."
Excellent - well done. Love (both versions of) the album. And great gig on Friday too - well worth our 100-mile round trip
I look forward to your 6-part, slightly underwhelming, ITV series on this. And, no spoilers, but we all know Martin Clunes did it.
Haven't watched it yet, but fascinated by change in chat shows - watched Parky on BBC4 today & amazed by how interesting an actual conversation can make Neil Morrisey and Joanna Lummley. Best thing was i ended the show with no idea why they were on - seemingly nothing to promote or sell. Just chat
I've always loved it, despite its faults, but now it is simply an extraordinary sport.
We are only a few months away from the great gramaphone revival
Yes, I went back to vinyl - and really enjoy the whole ritual of it - but then realised i have 100s of cds that I have no means of playing. Both kids recently asked for cd players and made me jealous. Am genuinely pleased that physical media having bit of a revival though, even with the young folk
I have that. There's only two songs I like on this. Plus, I no longer have a cd player. But should keep it? Just in case.
long stretch of worked roman stone on Hadrian's Wall.
If you ask someone today to name the builder of Hadrian's Wall, they would give you a funny look. But historical memory is odd, and right up to the 1800s we forgot who built it.
Until in 1840 John Hodgson, an obscure Northumbrian clergyman, published the LONGEST footnote in history... 1/22
Whenever they refuse the Bible, I'm like 'ooh this will be a good one' - witches, wife swappers, devil worshippers etc, all the usual fare for afternoon viewing. It's an astounding show at times
Guessing they didn't swear oath on the Bible. Crown Court tends to suggest those with 'alternative' lifestyles are not a Godly bunch
And he could paint his own portrait, so would save on costs too
Can't we just compromise and put the Churchill dog on the fivers?
This has caused a right sett to.
