A sort of a banner that, at first glance, appears to be celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States. But on inspection, it says "TID STATES OF MERI," "250o Years," and "17.20-726-2026." Basically every detail is wrong.

Please admire this absolute slop, printed on a small banner hanging outside of a restaurant in Wytheville, VA this evening. Somebody bought this, looked at it, thought "this is good," and hung it on the front of their establishment.

Games like darts, billiards, bowling and chess completely give away what's going on.

The ONLY reason to segregate these sports by sex in the first place is because men cannot emotionally handle losing to women.

The ONLY reason to lock out trans people is bigotry.

Okay this isn’t really happening anymore so I can tell you how l had “internal ICE sources”: the 3000 very stir-crazy ICE agents were all going wild on Minneapolis Tinder. Local girls would match with them and string them along for intel. They loved to brag about what they were doing all day

I was listening to "The Raw and the Cooked" on Monday. It is a great album—the first half, especially.

White House Secures Foreign Steel for Ballroom Project

NEW: Trump accepted $37m worth of donated steel for his WH ballroom project from the Luxembourg-based company ArcelorMittal.

Days later, the WH made adjustments to Trump's tariffs that could benefit ArcelorMittal.

I started kindergarten in 1983, and we did none of that stuff. I was a teenager before I learned that had ever been a thing—"duck and cover" and all that.

Too young for nuclear war drills, too old for active shooter drills. Aye, that’s the sweet spot.

Trump keeps ordering the DOJ to come to particular findings, so his administration can use those as a fig leaf to avoid future prosecution for those crimes. I’m not saying that courts won’t fall for this scam—I’m saying we have to overhaul our government so that they *can’t* fall for it.

I’m too young to have known anything about the nuclear war fears of the Cold War, so I never developed psychological immunological defenses to all this.

Yay! I remember advocating for this to then-mayor Maurice Cox ten thousand years ago.

Delivery deadlines are a mistake. Government must never outsource control, and that's exactly what you're doing by holding an Agile vendor to a deadline.

Blog entry: I wrote last week about how it’s a mistake to include detailed deliverables in an Agile software development contract, but let’s throw another mistake on the pile: including a delivery deadline in an Agile contract.

Trump chose 8 PM ET because that's the start of prime time viewing, in his 1985 view of the world. He wants everybody to tune in for the season finale of The Trump Versus Iran Show.

You know what? I'll admit it. The credible threat by a madman to wipe out a nation of 90 million people for basically no reason (presumably using nuclear weapons) successfully distracted me. I am now distracted.

I have questions

Under international law, "genocide" is such a fraught term because it requires showing 'dolus specialis,' or proof that perpetrators specifically aimed to destroy a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group.

Trump or someone on Trump's team intentionally crafted this to meet that standard.

To quote a passing stranger who once offered an unsolicited remark to our wiener-beagle: “I am so embarrassed for you.”

There’s nothing I can say about Trump that’s more damning than his own comments this morning. We’ve arrived at a worst-case scenario, as millions of people said would happen, while millions more said “…nah.”

This morning we were supposed to leave for our first family vacation in two years, so naturally both of the kids contracted a flu-like virus yesterday. We now live in the liminal space of the day before leaving on vacation, with no way of knowing when or if we’ll leave.

I realized today that the only CD I ever sold was Blues Traveler’s big hit album. It was just awful, I wanted it out of my home. Spencer had sold it to me for $12 and bought it back a week later for $4. I got the better end of the bargain.

I don’t even know if most of these albums are any good. Is this maybe a bad Guy Clark album? Is Ryan Bingham any good with the Dead Horses? As Wilco albums go, how does this one rank? All mysteries. But for $4–6 each, I’m fine with those mysteries.
