Maybe I am missing something.

Half of parents regularly let children off school if they’re too upset Survey on absenteeism raises concerns that a significant minority of parents have allowed absence for ā€˜something as routine as getting a haircut’

ā€œNinety per cent claimed their child’s mental health was more important than attending school, the research by Bett, which organises education technology shows, found.ā€

This is reported almost as something unusual or strange.

Digital IDs have the potential to be an invaluable weapon against the growing tide of fraud, while facilitating access to public and private sector services.

They also create a dividing line with Reform.

Just please do them in a smart way that actually works.

I opposed ID cards when they were proposed by the last Labour government.

I think the digitisation of society over the last 20 years has changed the calculus.

Also, it’s not just about how much your office could do, you could also get quality improvement.

AI is not (necessarily) just about productivity in the sense of how much you can do.

I disagree. Train them up (if necessary) to use it effectively. Or you could also ban them from using Googleā€¦šŸ¤£

There are also big class divisions opening up between those in professional jobs that provide paid parental leave for dads and those in jobs that don’t.

Good article and comment. I think there are those considerations but that doesn’t mean you can’t shift the overall calculus or the culture. Associated to that is ensuring there is adequate support for dads returning from parental leave.

I think you are making the assumption that not knowing the number by heart is the main barrier to people making reports, which I think is unlikely.

Regulation of Household Credit in the UK before the Financial Crisis: deregulation, market building or inadequate regulation? Join the LSE Law ELLM Alumni Association for the next virtual event on UK household credit regulation.

It’s not really a soft left thing. This is not a typical Labour view.

it’s just that I’m interested in financial regulation and have done quite a lot of research on this which someday I will get round to publishing.

There is a flavour of it here: www.lse.ac.uk/law/events/R...

You’re drawing on New Labour’s economic record to argue against Labour’s current approach.

I’m just saying that there are some major issues with New Labour’s economic record.

I am not necessarily saying that what you are saying about the current Labour government is wrong.
