A light beige, creamy soup or broth is in a white bowl. Two pieces of light beige, somewhat translucent, likely sliced mushrooms or a similar fungus, are held aloft by black chopsticks, in the soup. The mushroom pieces appear to be vertically oriented with a slightly darker cap at the top of each; the stems are long and thin. The soup itself has a cloudy, slightly yellowish-brown tone. The bowl is white and the lighting is somewhat diffused.

My kids have been low key obsessed with @theoctopuslady.bsky.social recently, which makes me happy as a nerdy human. My middle kid is especially obsessed with deep sea organisms and also singing “That’s A Moray”

These turned out pretty cool despite some minor issues with the glaze and surface decoration. If I attempt a similar style, I’m going to save portions of it (drips, layers of underglaze transfers) until after bisque firing.

Whelp, something might have awoken in me thanks to this.

Now I’m diving down an eBay rabbit hole of the Kenner JP toys from 1993. Trying to restrain myself from buying the Velociraptor toy I got for my 7th birthday 😰

I watched it once and realized they were just never going to spark joy like JP did. Jurassic Park seemed to at least try to make them into animals and not simply movie monsters. That said, that toy is sick and only needs light modding to add feathers coming from the second finger to be accurate.

It’s so close to being accurate, it’s acceptable. I wish they had done that for Jurassic World and explained it as changing from filling the gaps with frog DNA to bird to better fill the gaps in the code and as a way to solve the whole “life finds a way” issue
