Has anyone written a good general biography of Yes? Online searches show bios of individual members, and books devoted to individual albums, but surely someone has written something more general covering the whole history?

I'm late on today's matchup, but it's surprisingly close just now. I was vaguely aware of the Old 97's and they were... OK (I liked them best when they went a bit Cracker), but The Knife is another new one, and utterly fascinating - feels like a Bjork/Moloko/Whale sort-of mash-up?

I was thinking that it looked a bit "off" to be a Frank Hampson page, but it'd still be a lovely thing to have. And that lighting from the control panel... ππ
Here are the cast announced SO FAR-
I'm also actually surprised at how the voting is going for this one. I know Bluesky never fails to show its middle-aged colours, but maybe the millenials' back pains are more pronounced these days than I thought?
My continued take on Blink-182 is "I'm too old for this shit" (despite apparently being just a few months younger than Mark Hoppus). I much prefer Jenny Lewis solo, but I can at least listen to more than 2 tracks of Rilo Kiley, so... RK I guess? β
I always get Holy Fuck mixed up with our other sweary-named band, Fucked Up. One is noisy and bleepy-bloopy (HF), and the other just noisy (FU). One day I'll remember which is which...
In proof that advertising works, ads on Indie88 here in Toronto reminded me that there's a new Holy Fuck (or "Holy F" as they have to say on the radio) album out, and it's a bit of a banger open.spotify.com/album/1u7d9f...
Stares in RSD.
For people in other countries, how much was the XTC Live Boots RSD? Looking on discogs, It looks like it was $50 US? How the hell does that translate to $85 CAD??
Yes, I am bitter about this π‘
The Lovecraft Investigations podcast: excellent audio drama (also on BBC Sounds, if you have it). S1 - Charles Dexter Ward, S2 - Whisperer in the Darkness, S3 - Shadow Over Innsmouth, S4 - Haunter of the Dark. Then sign up to back this.
When will I learn that Record Store Day is not for me? I looked around a few places for the XTC live album with no luck - either they never had it or it had already gone. Then I saw the price - $85! Nope. Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope. π
this race-bending the new musketeers thing is taking it way too far, next they'll be claiming Dumas was black or something
My brother gave me the Elbow album the year after it came out. It got one listen and then I traded it in somewhere. I still find Guy Garvey's voice off-putting, but they've become middle-aged stealth prog over the years, so I've warmed to them a bit. Certainly more than Microphones.

getting doug ford to out-loud say "god bless the weston family' is the greatest soundbite one could hope for.
The cover of Peter Gabriel's self-titled 3rd album, also known as melt due to the distorted melted cover portrait. It's sitting on the kid if a vintage turntable.
A bit of melty PG3 goodness today. With all of the clunks and pops on this copy though, I wish my brother's mate hadn't trashed it (he wasn't even a friend of the brother that owned it!) π‘ #NowPlaying
Oof. Both bands that I knew of but never took the time to listen to. Let's just leave it at that.
The cover of Dexys Midnight Runners' "Don't Stand Me Down", featuring the band in grey business suits, with a solid burgundy graphic band running down the right-hand side of the cover.
(to be clear, I have no knowledge of anything - just basing it on a colour palette choice that matches the original DSMD cover)
The banner graphic for Dexys Midnight Runners on Spotify, featuring yellow, pink, and lilac text on a burgundy background.
Given that there's a new (UK) tour coming, and new burgundy graphics have popped up on Dexys Midnight Runners' socials, does this mean there's a reissue/superdeluxe of "Don't Stand Me Down" en route? π€π
In things that make me go "huh" in the day job, I just figured out an issue I've been having when pasting objects with alt text between InDesign documents - the alt text kept getting stripped out in the paste. Turns out, it was an Object Style name conflict community.adobe.com/questions-67...
They usually start off well, but by the mid-way point of most Pulp albums I keep getting surprised that he's still wanging on... Yet another band I can only handle in short doses before the skip button starts getting some heavy use.
Of course, if Pulp don't make it through, that's another part of my bracket screwed... π
To my surprise, I've gone with Les Savy Fav, a band I'd never heard until now. It's not spectacular stuff, but it's a lot of spiky fun. Pulp keep falling into an "almost like" hole for me, with the highs being very high, but everything else settles into a white noise of archness.

They were the guys in Yaen, right? youtu.be/dD8o2lNolM0?...
(Sorry for cursing your timeline with that π¬)
Long shot, but is anyone on my feed able to read hiragana and katakana and see what's written on these tapes? It's already quite zoomed in on a not-so-great image off FB marketplace, so that prolly doesn't help legibility!
One on the far right might be Tunnels live special?

It's not my favourite Sparklehorse record (not even my favourite Sparklehorse record of this year, but A CAMP didn't make it in), but there's a lot of great moments here. Pernice Brothers are new to me, and I'm happy to put the shrink-wrap back on that one and never open it again.
Sparklehorse β
Never heard of the Pernice Brothers, but Sparklehorse had a decent following in UK/Europe IIRC, at least among record store punters and music journalists.
