Longitudinal enrichment of eosinophilic esophagitis in children with AD: The MPAACH cohort The atopic march refers to the natural history of allergic disease manifestations as they develop in childhood.1 Classically, the march begins with atopic dermatitis (AD), followed sequentially by foo...

Really nice to see this new MPAACH cohort analysis from Drs. Chang, Biagini, and colleagues.

In a prospective early-life AD cohort, they show enrichment of EoE—particularly with food sensitization/allergy—and trajectories placing EoE squarely in the atopic march.

Incidence of Autoimmune Diseases in Children with Atopy Treated with Dupilumab - PubMed We detected a modest association between dupilumab and cutaneous autoimmune disease diagnosis in atopic children. These findings help address knowledge gaps about clinical outcomes in atopic children treated with this biologic.

Very important paper below from CHOP A/I division researchers Stan Gabryszewski and Jonathan Spergel on the association between Dupilumab use and autoimmune conditions. An important consideration that warrants more investigation.

JCI Insight - CD9 regulates macrophage-mediated remodeling of adipose tissue in obesity

Excited to share new work from our lab in @insight.jci.org 🎉

We find that #CD9 is a key regulator of adipose tissue lipid-associated macrophages #LAMs in obesity. Deleting CD9 improves metabolism in obese mice.

Proton pump inhibitors modulate esophageal epithelial barrier function and crosstalk with eosinophils - PubMed Omeprazole diminished the effects of IL-13 in both the epithelial air-liquid interface model and eosinophil-epithelial co-cultures, alleviating barrier dysfunction, chemokine expression, and the upregulation of eosinophil adhesion markers.

Eosinophilic Esophagitis Incidence during Single and Multiple Food Oral Immunotherapy - PubMed In a cohort of 1200 children on OIT at a tertiary pediatric hospital with robust OIT and EoE programs, the rate of newly diagnosed EoE during OIT was found to be 0.7%, which is lower than prior studies. This study demonstrated regular screening before and during OIT is associated with a reduced rate …

What if dietary fat acts as an immune signal?

In our new review, we explore how saturated fatty acids activate conserved inflammatory pathways, shape immune cell function, and may represent an evolutionarily conserved host defense mechanism. Look for it soon in DNA and Cell Biology!
