I don't want to be too pessimistic, but how many health data systems are not broken? This is not an excuse for Italy, it is a general pessimism I have on this front.

Back from the Flash and Particle Therapy Conference (FRPT) in Rome. I found it interesting, and the community attending it slightly differs from the usual Physics or RadOnc congress: fewer people from clinical practice, more radiobiologists and physicists working on radically new things.

I don't have a strong opinion on the matter, but it is an interesting question and I agree that we should keep the door open to high risk science. (There is then the issue of differentiating "high risk" from "totally unrealistic even though it sells well" but it's a separate problem.)
