There is! It's really just a cart but I got a Sue shot glass from them

the post office in my town is in a signal hole so you can't scroll while you wait in line

the line isn't even long usually but it's amazing how few seconds it takes me to panic about "what if I get so bored that I die"

I was thinking pig but the nose is too weird, hippo makes more sense

electricity used to make your skeleton show when you got a shock but now it doesn't do that anymore

the space monsters don't want you seeing their monster bones

chubby brown pet mouse

You're a cool person and I like seeing you on here, you're one of the people I went out of my way to re-follow after coming back to social media.

My mouse also wishes you well. or would if she could see you and you were holding food

photo of my finished drawing of Sue the T. rex on a table at the airport. They had surprisingly good chili cheese fries there, which as we all know are the ultimate in art fuel. I kinda fucked up the placement on the page, this was much harder to draw than expected. I kept getting sweaty too which I only realized the next day when I woke up with a fever was probably me actually being sick and not knowing it. I should go back and draw this again when I am not sick and do a better job!!!

I was drawing in the museum until they closed(thats why it looks empty above) so I had to finish it up at the airport. I've wanted to see Sue in person since I was a kid so this was a dream come true.

my contribution to the airport discourse is if you're going to O'Hare, allow an extra 10 minutes for dinosaur appreciation

really a lot of the "how should Democrats campaign" discourse is just about what level of imaginary influence you give yourself - if you're pretending you magically control every potential voter, you get totally different results than if your wizard powers only control the party and candidates

seems like a pretty easy exploit to just run it empty all day?

Yeah, I think the conspiracy theory is fanfiction because it's silly and requires 1000x better secrecy and coordination than Team Trump has ever had...

but the one part of the story I *would* believe is the Biden DOJ being paralyzed by "we mustn't appear politically motivated!"

it is cool to think that there were gay dinosaurs. like it's not hypothetical, there definitely would have been, look at birds. not just mating but. like. two boy sauropods spending their whole lives together. curled up around each other every night. necks intertwined.

I actually have an entire crackpot theory about dinosaurs developing a fully biodegradable civilization

...with very casual burial practices and an unfortunately high crime rate

hmm I guess there are dinosaur tool users currently, at least like ravens being able to use sticks to do stuff

but that just makes it all the more mysterious. it takes babies like six months to figure out tool use and it took the Earth 360 million years?

okay so dinosaurs were the dominant animals on Earth for vastly longer than mammals have had so far, like that's why they had time to evolve such weird super specialized bodies in the Cretaceous, right

and in all that time they NEVER developed so much as stone tools?

that's kind of canonizing the error, though. it would be really easy to add a line to the form that guides people through the math, but unfortunately the forms are nationally standardized and I have no influence over them.

(we measure the overlap when we do these exams, so that's a known amount)

yeah, I'm going to try to make some educational illustrations for my coworkers about this

oh I figured it out, the answer is probably that they're working from a rubric that says "visual field requirement: ≥140°" and, well, 260 is larger than 140, isn't it? good enough to tick the box and move on!

I think the people we submit the forms to don't actually use the total and just look at the individual eye scores? Idk though, this stuff all disappears into a black hole after I do my review and send it up the chain.

Also the companies and their backers being repeatedly dishonest about the capabilities - if the first iPhones didn't make calls and Apple's defense was "the tiny print here says call quality is not guaranteed," it would have taken a long time to win back public trust.

The US doesn't usually do wards, in most hospitals we have at most two people in a room.

Trans people often get assigned to single rooms, which is kind of stigmatizing I guess, but how loudly do I want to complain about *not* having a roommate of unpredictable temperament/loudness/odor

I'm the guy who is thinking that while the crew wouldn't feel anything if the inertial dampeners were working normally, and they'd be absolutely pulped if the dampeners were off completely, "the system adjusts very fast but not instantly, so sudden shocks can cause a brief ~0.3g error" is reasonable
