Last month, I went to Hohenems in western Austria for @haaretzcom.bsky.social to write about a small Jewish museum quite unlike any other as its long-time director, Hanno Loewy, was preparing to step down after 22 years in charge. www.haaretz.com/jewish/2026-...

I’ve been slowly but surely working on getting off US tech (and decrease tech use more generally), and I find this guide very handy, especially as someone in the Mac universe.

And his work is mostly historical on 19th and 20th centuries, rather than looking at contemporary phenomenology (all limits I think Bebbington would readily agree to)

Though less so in Scotland, where Bebbington is drawing on (primarily) with his definition.

Though that then asks how useful the tool is applied to US Evangelicalism

With nearly half of all votes counted (45.71%), the opposition Tisza party is now on course to get 135 seats – the much-needed 2/3 majority – in the new 199-seat parliament. Viktor Orbán’s Fidesz is down to 57, and the far-right Mi Hazank to 7. — The Guardian

Pope Leo XIV: "Even the holy Name of God, the God of life, is being dragged into discourses of death. A world of brothers and sisters with one heavenly Father vanishes, as in a nightmare, giving way to a reality populated by enemies"

On the Matter of Imposter Syndrome Yes, it's pervasive. No, it does not go away -- not really.

I think I’ve said this before but it bears repeating. danieldrezner.substack.com/p/on-the-mat...

For all the talk about ordered love and the like, worth pointing out that a core qualification for Christian elders is φιλόξενος (philozenos)—hospitality.

But the Greek is a compound meaning ‘love of stranger’.

I wonder this too - whether there's a component of 'mirroring empathy', whereby you mirror what your conversation partner is saying.

I know my German (L2) accent changes as I move around Germany and Austria, depending on who I'm talking with.

And I moved a lot as a child so my L1 is also flexible

Willie James Jennings on the Doctrine of Creation Podcast Episode · Theology for Our Times · April 8 · 57m

It’s very interesting to hear Jennings make so much of Tim Ingold’s concept of watering in his forthcoming doctrine of creation, the same concept which helps guide Brock’s recent Joining Creation’s Praise.
