I never stopped believing that turn-based combat was good. Do I want every game to feature it? No. But dropping it, because companies think it's "outdated" is stupid.

Nah, NBA is definitely more interesting to watch. There are certainly bad teams/organizations, but the league for the NBA stays competitive every year.
